Connected Pharmacy: It is still not too late to register for the 2 workshops

Connected pharmacy is an innovative programme aimed at unlocking and integrating pharmacy networks across the Midlands. Our Chair, Paul Jenks, recently attended the launch event on 4th May and then the first workshop on 10th May. He found the event to be very useful and a good way to connect across the pharmacy networks within the county. It provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the future of pharmacy, as we move to an integrated care system, working more closely with colleagues across the health system in different areas of pharmacy.

If you would like to attend workshop 1 on 17th May and then your choice of date for workshop 2, please find more details below:

Workshop 1
17th May 7pm - 8.30pm (Zoom)

Workshop 2 (two options):

7th June 7pm - 8.30pm (Zoom) or 14th June 7pm - 8.30pm (Zoom)

Data Security & Protection Toolkit: new PSNC guidance available and upcoming webinar

PSNC has published new guidance to help community pharmacy contractors to complete the 2021/22 Data Security and Protection Toolkit. The Toolkit is used to make a pharmacy’s information governance (IG) declaration and must be completed by 30th June 2022. However, contractors are recommended to complete the Toolkit as soon as possible.
PSNC has collaborated with NHS Digital to keep the workload associated with Toolkit completion manageable for contractors whilst ensuring the appropriate data security protections remain in place.

Read PSNC's Toolkit guidance

To further support contractors with completing the Toolkit, PSNC will be holding a webinar on Tuesday 24th May at 7.00pm. During the webinar, which will last for approximately 45 minutes, representatives from PSNC and NHS Digital will discuss the Toolkit questions, talk delegates through the available guidance and answer questions.

Deadline Extended to midday Tuesday 16th May: If applicable, please complete the expression of interest survey for ENT Minor illness training for your contracted pharmacy

We recently sent an email to all pharmacies at their store pharmacy 'f' code nhs.net address as follows.  If you have not already done so, please can you complete for your pharmacy or check with your head office if they usually complete surveys centrally relating to training etc.

Email read as follows:

We are investigating the possibility of using some non-recurrent funding to upskill community pharmacists in Lincolnshire in treatment of minor illnesses with a particular focus on ENT and the use of Otoscopes.

This training would be for one full day and would not be funded from the levy but from alternative sources. We are hoping to be able to offer one funded place per pharmacy contract and potentially include an otoscope as part of the training package.

Funding should allow for one place per contract held (ie per ODS code), but if there are spare places (if not all contractors take up their place) we will seek to offer them out on an equitable basis.

There would be up to 6 dates and locations as there are almost 120 contractors in the county, but these would be limited by the funding we could obtain as the training is expensive.

Therefore, please can you indicate if your pharmacy would take up your offer of a place, what days you could potentially send candidates and if weekday or Saturday training is preferred, by completing the short maximum four minute, six question survey at the link below. Please only complete once for each ODS Code ie. contract held.  The survey can be completed centrally by your head office if that is the process within your organisation, as more than one ODS code can be selected on the form.  ODS Codes are listed alphabetically. All training locations will be in Lincolnshire.
