Self-Care That Fits Your Life

We live in a society that tells us in order to achieve optimal wellness we need to exercise, meditate, be on top of our skincare game, and have extensive morning and pre-bedtime rituals like gratitude journaling and spritzing our pillow with a calming mist.

There’s no denying that self-care is a necessity but that doesn’t necessarily mean facemasks and hour-long workouts. (Who has time for that anyway?) The key is figuring out what makes you feel best and what’s realistic for your life. However, zeroing in on what wellness means to you is easier said than done.

Enter: our Women & Wellness Series hosted by Salon member and board-certified physician Jenny Yu. Throughout the three-part series, we’ll explore simple ways you can integrate wellness into your day, the mind-body connection, and long-term solutions for achieving your self-care goals. Join us for the series and get ready to live your best, well-balanced life.

Everyday Wellness For The Individual You

Wellness is overused and too broad. Define what self-care means to you and learn how wellness fits into your daily life during our Women & Wellness Series led by Jenny Yu, MD FACS, founder of Well Founded, a Pittsburgh-based medical practice focused on aesthetics, nutrition, and renewal. Join us on June 9, 16, and 23 for a thought-provoking conversation centered on the tenets of wellness and helping you discover a personalized self-care approach that is realistic for the busy woman that is you.

“I’ve been in the healthcare space as a surgeon for the last 13 years. After hearing patients’ stories — specifically women’s stories and how they navigate their health journeys and how they’re looking for solutions for aesthetics — I really wanted to create a space that has a concierge approach to listening to people and understanding what they’re looking for.

Unfortunately, with modern medicine time spent with the patient is often limited. I wanted to go back to the reason I went into medicine which was to connect with the patient and really understand what they’re going through and find solutions.

There’s lots of information out there about wellness that makes it difficult for people to feel that it’s speaking to them in particular. Whether you’re a busy mom, a career woman, or winding down in your career, people in different stages of life are often looking for self-care solutions for anything from aesthetics to lifestyle changes they want to make as they age. My goal is to take the evidence-based practices I’ve learned over the years and create a personalized approach that fits their life.

Self-care and wellness aren’t this pie in the sky but rather habits you develop over time. And one habit adopted actually makes a huge difference. I don’t want someone to ever feel like because they have no time, they can’t get started. There are lots of opportunities to integrate wellness into your life.”
