Is The SFTAS Initiative a Viable Nudge For State Governments?

Is the  State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability And Sustainability (SFTAS) sustainable?

The  SFTAS initiative is a World Bank support and intervention designed to support Nigerian state governments in implementing a Fiscal Sustainability Plan (FSP) to combat corruption and improve transparency in the use of public finances.

"Adopting open contracting has never been a difficulty for States; implementation has been. The SFTAS program has aided in the adoption process, but what happens when SFTAS is no longer in place?"

Digital Safety for Schools in Akwa Ibom

The PPDC's Digital Inclusion and Safer Internet program has brought online safety training to states, with Akwa Ibom State being the first, where chosen private and public schools were schooled on digital safety and the webrangers program.

We trained 300 students, teachers, and parents, and we were blown away by the large attendance; everyone was eager to learn practical strategies to keep safe online.

We paid a courtesy call to Rt. Hon.(Dr.) Ekaete Ebong Okon, Executive Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Secondary Education Board, during our visit to the state to discuss the adoption of the approved online safety curriculum into the state's school system.

Press Men Hear The Nsit Atai Tale

R-L: PPDC Programme Director, Mr. Onyechachi Chukwu, Mr. Aniefiok Solomon, former lawmaker Rt. Hon. Inyang Ekpe, women leader Mrs. Nsemeke Ikpe and the community leader Elder Akpan Ekpo during the press conference.

In the course of the month, we organized a press conference at ROSMOHR Hotels, Ewet House Estate, Uyo, to brief them on our success in persuading the Akwa Ibom state government to award the completion of the General hospital in Nsit Atai local government area in the 2022 budget.

The construction of the hospital started in 1992 during the administration of late Akpan Isemin who awarded the contract, but the construction was stalled by many intractable issues on the part of the government, and litigations on the part of the people of Odot Community, where the supposed general hospital is sited.
