Hello,

This is the weekly newsletter from Loaf in Stirchley, keeping you abreast of our bakery and cookery school.

This week we look forward to Mohnkuchen, announce a new Viennoiserie date and check out events at Attic Brew and Cotteridge Park.

Pre-order your bread

We'll have plenty of bread and pastries on the shelves too, with lunches served from noon on weekdays. Scroll to the bottom for this week’s lunch menu.

Our opening hours are:
Wednesday: 12-4
Thursday: 12-6
Friday: 12-6
Saturday: 8-1

Mohnkuchen in the house

After Sarah’s epic galettes last week Molly is feeling the heat and was today baking Mohnkuchen for the sweets board. We don’t have photo yet but they should look a bit like this. From that link:

Mohnkuchen encompasses a variety of desserts that are prepared with poppy seeds. Most commonly, it refers to various types of open-faced and streusel cakes that couple the creamy poppy filling with a shortcrust pastry and a crumbly topping.

Mohnkuchen cakes are popular throughout Germany and Austria and can be enjoyed on special occasions or as a simple afternoon dessert.

Look for them every day this week!

New Viennoiserie date

We had another look at the June rotas and are able to squeeze in an extra Sweet Bread and Viennoiserie class on Tuesday 7th June!

You’ll spend the day learning the art of dough lamination and creating classic sweet treats such as brioche, chelsea buns, cinnamon buns and hot cross buns. You’ll also be turning your laminated dough into four classic Viennoiserie – croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and Danish pastries.

Here are the classes that have vacancies as of sending this newsletter:

Attic’s indie market this Sunday

Our good friends up the road at Attic Brew are running a Spring Market this Sunday 1-6pm. Some familiar faces in attendance plus a few new-to-us traders that we’re keen to check out!

What’s on at Cotteridge Park?

We’re fundraising for the Friends of Cotteridge Park and in the run up to CoCoMad in July we’re highlighting some of the regular events and activities your donations help support throughout the year.

GOATS (Getting On At The Shed) is a weekly meetup for over 50s, with activities set by whoever turns up and what they’re interested in doing. From blacksmithing to boules, board games to bicycle repairs, newcomers are very welcome.

Meeting new people can get harder as you get older and events like this help combat loneliness and isolation. Plus it has the best logo of all the events.

Every Monday from 11am at The Shed.

Lunches this week

This week's sourdough pizza is stilton, tenderstem broccoli, hazelnut dukkah & watercress (V) on sale Wed to Fri.
