Who can believe that another week has gone by? Life at Queenstown Primary School has been busy this week, with lots happening.
Yesterday we farewelled Miss Aoife McColderick, who is leaving Rm 7 to return home to Ireland. We farewelled her at a morning tea this week; leaders spoke fondly of a dedicated junior school teacher who has always put her children first. Aoife will be missed by staff and students. We thank her for everything that she has done for our school. Good luck on your return to Ireland. ☘️
We look forward to welcoming her replacement- Mrs Alison Pouesi, a very experienced teacher, joining us from Auckland. Alison will start on Monday 30 May, until then the class is in good hands with Mrs Saxon.
The Rippa rugby teams have been busy preparing for the Wakatipu schools tournament. Next Tuesday, we have many teams entered, and I look forward to watching these students compete against the other schools. This Wakatipu school event is the 1st this year, and we are excited to back out there doing it. Thank you to Paula, Liam, Luke and Tom, who have given up lunchtimes to prepare our students for success. Good luck, go hard and represent us well.
Development of talents (Dots) started today for Yr 3-8. Thank you to our wonderful parent helpers who have given up time to run workshops. Our kids love DOTs; they value having the choice, working with students from outside of their immediate class and experiencing aspects of the broader curriculum. Check out the photos below- they tell the story.
Kapa Haka was underway today, Miss Thorne has been rallying the members and it was like old times listening to the sounds of waiata and haka coming from the hall this morning. We look forward to celebrating our first cultural performance at the ESOL family lunch on Wednesday 25 May.
Have a fantastic weekend in paradise. Be safe and enjoy time with your whanau.
