June 2022 Issue

Celebrating the First Anniversary of uRise!

June 12th marks the one year anniversary of our uRise Powered by PenFed platform and we could not be more excited about its success over the past year!  Since the launch, we have had more than 100 students graduate from our English Language Learning (ELL) program, have had local instructors volunteer to teach dance classes, art classes, yoga instruction and more at low or no cost to our community, have provided a platform for local businesses and other non-profit organizations to advertise their events at no cost to them, and provided a platform for users like our very own Air Sal (sports announcer who recently graduated with honors) to grow their passions and share them with others.  Both Rise and PenFed are committed to continuing to bring this service to the community and we are looking forward to seeing the growth not only in the platform itself, but in those who participate in it!  To become a member and get all the latest news, as well as be amongst the first to be able to register for new classes, go to https://urise.njrise.org.

Father's Day Sales at Rise Thrift!!!
Father's Day is Sunday, June 19th, and to show our appreciation, we're offering 50% OFF everything in store to all the dads out there that Sunday only!  Come on in store and shop our electronics, tools, menswear and more!  We know you'll find something you just can't live without, and you'll be doing good for your community in the process!
Bloomin 4 Good is BACK for June!
For the month of June 2022, Rise Pantry has been selected to receive a $1 donation for every $10.99 Bloomin' 4 Good Bouquet with the red circle sticker sold at the store located at 1600 Perrineville Road, Monroe Township, NJ.  The bouquets are available in the floral section of the store. If you are having trouble finding the Bloomin' 4 Good Bouquets, ask the store manager where they are located and they will be happy to show you!  This is a great way to raise awareness in the local community and help fight hunger!
Just a Few More Spaces Available for Summer Camp
Summer is almost here and our Rise Summer Enrichment Program is nearly full!  We have only a few more spots available for campers, so if you have a child who is interested in attending or you know someone who does, please remember to register them as soon as possible to secure their place in the program!  Rise Summer Camp offers students the opportunity to develop their academic skills, participate in special interest programs like STEM and art, and participate in experiential learning activities as well as beach outings!  For more information & to register, click here.
Donate Your Unused Legos for STEM kits!
If you come into the Rise Thrift Store, you'll see a new donation box that has just arrived!  Hightstown High School's Team Mercury is a dedicated group of students interested in science, engineering, mechanics, computers, technology, and a plethora of other disciplines. The team is collecting and recycling your used and unwanted Legos into STEM kits!  Instead of stepping on them with bare feet or accidentally sucking them up in the vacuum, donate those colorful little plastic blocks to help advance the education of local students!
Seeking Bi-Lingual Volunteers!

We have recognized a greater need for volunteers with special skills, including those who are bilingual, in order to help us better serve our community.  If you speak English as well as Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese or other popular local languages, please consider sharing your time with Rise!  Opportunities include volunteering at the Rise Thrift Store, our Home Office, and our Food Pantry!  Contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@njrise.org for more information and to learn how you can get involved!

May Community Impact by the Numbers

Every day, our mission is to help our neighbors in whatever way we can.  In May, we had 1,642 clients visit the food pantry. We distributed 14,898 bags of food to local families, and handed out 66 bags of pet food.  511 bags of baby supplies for new parents were given to those in need.  237 of our Rise volunteers donated 1,595 hours of their time.  These numbers are all an increase over last month's numbers. Our efforts are made possible by donations that we receive and by our amazing volunteers.  We want you to know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of people around you who may be struggling, and lifting up your entire community.  If you want to help us make these numbers grow, you can donate to Rise at https://njrise.org/donate. Want to make even more of an impact? Become a Rise Good Neighbor and pledge to make a recurring monthly contribution that helps us better manage our budget and know that we are ready to take action when needs arise outside of our normal fundraising schedule, which has become our reality in recent years.
