Dying to do a class with Deb Louie?? OR Have little people in your life who need gifts?? Well coming up is a rare one-off Saturday Class to learn all about appliqué with your sewing machine!! Do you like the look of needleturn appliqué but prefer to work by machine? Well this class is for you!!
Make the super cute Eye-spy Bubbles of Fun or Covid Clams cushion and learn the basics of blind hem appliqué using your machine. Once you’ve learned the technique you’ll be speedily appliquéing everything in sight! Deb has organised the day to make your cushion top as well as quilt it and assemble it all in one day!!! Helen Draper, one of our regular teachers runs a monthly or casual class called StashCPR! This is one of our favourite classes and suits absolute beginners wanting to learn to handle their rotary cutter and mat and start to piece quilts by machine. It will also suit experienced quilters with a stash issue! We say "Breathe new life into your stash with StashCPR!" Choose from one of Helen's special StashCPR patterns or work with Helen to come up with a simple repeat block design to show off (or disguise) what you have!
Our next StashCPR class is on Monday 23rd May and were taking bookings by phone now or pop into the store and check out the patterns and quilts which might pique your interest! This is a perfect class for Absolute Beginners who'd like to learn how to manage rotary cutting and piecing. Choose a basic pattern or learn to sew the eternally popular scrappy squares! 2022 Berry Quilt Show & Satellite Events
A HUGE SUCCESS !!
We were so happy with the turn out for Berry Quilt Show a fortnight ago! The Red Berry Quilters report a huge bump in attendance to see the quilts at their quilt show and as a result they raised a great sum to donate to SAHSSI. A vital not-for-profit support service in our region! Our Berry Quilt & Co. Satellite events and store were also super busy throughout the the weekend! Thank you to everyone who came to support us and Join in the fun! Read on for a recap!
Our Satellite Display of Something about Japan Quilts by Jennifer Corkish and her students at the Uniting Church hall pictured above was inspiring! This quilt has definitely struck a chord! Jennifer's method of encouraging class participants to make their own aesthetic and design decisions resulted in a room full of fascinatingly different quilts all begun with the same design source! Continued demand and the flexibility of the project means that we will hold another of these classes. Reply by email if you're interested in more info.
Berry Quilt & Co was host for two days of the QuiltNSW pop up sewing day. This is an important outreach activity of QuiltNSW and is a benefit for regional members! On the right above is Jenny Chapman the Pop-Up sewing day coordinator who put a lot of work into the ladies having a club house in our classroom for the two days of the Berry Quilt Show. There were prizes and games and companionship! Some of the happy group pictured above left.
Berry Quilt & Co. was proud to judge and sponsor the Red Berry Quilters Small Quilt Challenge. We were happy to award our 1st Prize to Chris Lee for her amazing piece pictured above right. There were two highly commended entries as well from Jennie Breeze (above centre) and Trish Mills (above left) Well done girls! Judging was a hard job. All entrants to the challenge received a discount voucher to use in the shop later in the year.
We congratulate everyone who entered the challenge and the wider show! Including the indomitable Denise Griffiths whose quilts formed a feature display in the Main Quilt Show at the School of Arts pictured below and who donated many items for silent auction significantly boosting the donation Red Berry Quilters were able to make to SAHSSI.
