KYLEA TINK

This is it, North Sydney — the final week that will shape Australian politics for the next three years and beyond. If you want a strong, Independent voice for our community in parliament, now is the time to use your voice to advocate for change.

From our pink-shirted volunteers braving the rain at early voting centres, to the hundreds of supporters striking up small but important conversations in their day-to-day lives, every interaction is absolutely critical in this last week of campaigning.

We need you to speak up now, for our best chance at real climate action, integrity in politics, and a better way forward for our country. I'm asking for your number 1 vote, and for you to ask everyone you see — on your front lawns, at local shops, sports fields, bus stops, and elsewhere — to VOTE 1 KYLEA TINK.

One in 10 voters have already cast their votes, and about half of all voters are expected to do so before next Saturday. We're running out of time to reach everyone, and it would be a great help if you could please commit a couple of hours to helping at a pre-polling booth, or on Election Day.

Thank you again for your support. I look forward to the future we will build together for our community, beyond the election.

ELECTION COUNTDOWN:
8 DAYS TO GO
‼️ ASK EVERYONE TO "VOTE 1 KYLEA TINK" ‼️
The best thing you can do for our campaign this week is to use your voice to convince everyone you know of the many compelling reasons to give Kylea their number 1 vote.

Here are some suggestions:
  • Kylea is our best chance for change. Kylea has the best chance of taking the seat of North Sydney from the Liberal Party. To do that, she needs your number 1 vote. How you allocate the rest of your preferences is up to you.
  • Kylea is our best climate advocate. Her emissions reduction target of 60% by 2030 is stronger than either of the major parties', and she has a plan to turn North Sydney into one of the first net zero energy urban zones in Australia.
  • Kylea is for a forward-focused economy. Her approach will see Australia benefit from the transition to a low-emissions economy, resulting in new jobs and industries for Australia.
  • Kylea will work towards a fairer, more equitable society. She wants greater support for families with equitable parental leave, and increased support for quality public and tertiary education. She has been actively involved in advocating for the immediate release of all refugees held in indefinite detention in Australia.
  • Kylea is the best representative for our community. The two-party system is gridlocked and the parties care more about their own self-interests than what's beneficial for our electorate. By electing an Independent, we'll be helping to bring balance back into parliament.
If you are able to, please also volunteer for one of of our campaign-critical activities to help raise awareness of the campaign.
How to vote for Kylea Tink: Place a 1 in the box beside her name, and ensure EVERY other box is numbered for your vote according to your preference.
In THE NEWS
The outsiders who could reshape Australia's politics - BBC News, 10 May, which notes that while the two major parties have avoided focusing on climate change during this campaign, "the broader electorate wants action. Independents ... are one of the few that are prepared to put it front and center and talk about it."

Afternoon Briefing - ABC News, 9 May. Kylea speaks with Greg Jennett from Covid isolation about the campaign and her climate policy positions. Watch the ABC recording from the 31" mark, or see a clip of Kylea speaking here.

Women take their place at the centre of power in Australia - Sydney Morning Herald, 8 May. "In the past 18 months, women have roared for social change ... It is fitting then this election seizes that momentum, and women are recognised for their power to change the nation, and their potential to contribute to it."

Live chat with Kylea Tink - FBi Radio, 7 May. Kylea speaks on Backchat about why she running for politics, why an Independent will be a stronger voice for our North Sydney community than a "moderate Liberal", and her position on climate action.

North Sydney independent Kylea Tink wants to bring the power of balance to politics - Women's Agenda, 6 May. A great, wide-ranging interview with Kylea about why she is standing for election, her policy priorities, and how she will determine which party to support in the event of a hung parliament.

As 21 May approaches, I am blown away by how far we've come. It's incredible to realise that just a year ago:
  1. No one thought North Sydney would ever be in play. Now it is.
  2. No one thought the government would ever agree to net zero by 2050. We now have that net zero target, and are pushing for a 60% emissions reduction target by 2030.
  3. No one had been selected to run as our independent candidate for North Sydney. We now have the irrepressible Kylea Tink.
Always remember the heights of the political mountain we have all already climbed and conquered, and the friends we have found along the way.

In the words of anthropologist Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
