A Message from our Director
We were pleased to host Bishop Mark at Cre8 during April and had a great visit to the music project, it's really good to see our young people interact and enjoy making music together.
We were pleased to do our Easter Egg hunt, team Easter bunny woke up super early so we could get the Eggs in early for our Moss community. Thanks to Chess and Peaks & Plains Housing Trust for their generous donations of Easter Eggs.
Thank you for your continued support, the Cre8 team is spending June and July working through our strategy and plans for the coming 3 years, keeping Faith, Change & Community at the core of how we wish to grow.
Scottish Evening for Camas
On Saturday 14th May we have our Scottish Celebration arranged by our young people to raise funds for our visit to Camas, our first visit since 2019! We are looking forward to sharing with our community our hopes and plans for this exciting residential. It will be a great event, some entertainment, fantastic Scottish food, and a few dances, with some music provided by the young people from music.  You can book tickets by calling the House 01625 503740 or emailing info@cre8macclesfield.org
Project Grow

Plant Sale

Thanks to everyone who came along to our Plant Sale at St Barnabas - we raised an astonishing £485!! What an amazing achievement! Donated plants from friends of Cre8 from all over Macclesfield. Young people and volunteers had made gorgeous cakes and served brews throughout the day. It was so nice to see so many Cre8 faces past and present as well.                                       😊❤️🌱
The funds raised will go towards our young people's residential trip to the Camas Outdoor Activity Centre run by the Iona Community on the Isle of Mull.

Calling all Food Waste Warriors!

We're after more volunteers! If you've been coming to Grocery for a while and fancy finding out how it works 'from the other side', or if you've got a few hours spare in the week, or if you just want to be part of our super-fun team distributing surplus food🦸‍♀️... We'd love to hear from you.
Most of the work is physical - lifting, carrying, packing. Although there are a few spots for some lighter work. We'd need regular weekly commitment and in return you'll get full training, being part of a team, and the occasional leftover pastry.

We've got a few spots on different days and times in the week. Please contact us on 07745734828 if you're interested.
Meet Catherine - Our new PR volunteer
My work offers volunteer time off throughout the year. Never having participated in this scheme before, like many people I lead a busy life with full time job and two little’uns, so to keep it simple I decided to find something local to feel like I am making a difference and giving back to the community in which I live. After a little internet magic, I came across the Cre8 website and I really liked the ethos of the work they do within the Moss Estate community. Then I met Cre8 Director Ameera and was completely sold on her openness and enthusiasm. Now I volunteer for a couple of hours every other week doing something I really enjoy, for people I really like!
Music

Since our last newsletter the Music Project has  secured funding from Youth Music for another year.  This really encourages us!

We have a busy programme with lots of opportunities to perform.

During a regular week we run after school drop-in sessions on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3:30pm to 5:30pm.  During these times we also offer one to one music tuition for young people to work towards grades in guitar, ukulele, drums, singing and piano.

We’re also running a weekly singing session at The Mayfield Centre.  We sing along people who come to the Mayfield Centre from respite care.  It’s a great opportunity to use our Music to be a part of the community and help others.

If you want to hear young people perform, then come along to any of the following:

14th May Scottish Evening, Ceilidh Music and Performances.

5th June Jubilee Celebration, Music from the decades with choreography from Apple Dance.

It’s just awesome to see young people learning skills, grow in confidence, and be celebrated for what the skills they have.

Learning Plus
Since our last newsletter Craig has joined the Leaning Plus Team.  Using Craig’s practical skills we are offering practical work sessions in The Shed at The House.  Below is Nicole learning how to build a bench as part of Learning Plus.
Over the last term, young people have also been learning about Ukraine and Palestine. Here is Oliver with his hummus and flat bread from Palestine.
All of the above activities are promoting self-confidence and allowing young people to learning valuable skills.  At the moment we are providing 17 sessions per week with 9 young people.
Clubs

Clubs continue to be one of the most important and core things we do at Cre8.  On Tuesdays we run a club for young people of secondary age while on Wednesdays it’s for primary age.  It’s a time when we can have fun and just do stuff together.

Over the half term holidays we ran a residential for our Primary Club.  We went to Rob’s Farm in Wales.  The young people enjoyed a wet and windy overnight camping trip.  The weather didn’t stop them having fun and getting down to the beach and enjoying a paddle.

The Secondary Club have helped at a couple of events to raise money for going to Camas.  During the half term holidays we ran a pop up car wash at St Barnabas Church.

This was a hit with people and so we hope to run another one of these on Saturday the 18th June…..watch this space!

So far the young people have managed to raised just over £500 for their trip to Scotland in the summer.  If you’d like to donate, then please get in touch.

Being a trustee is a vital and stimulating role. You would be ensuring that the charity is not only reaching it's goals, but forward thinking and running as efficiently as possible. Working closely with CE0s, trustees set the direction of the organisation. They're a strategic, and an absolutely necessary part of the charity.
