Thank You & Goodbye 2021-2022

The end of year celebration was an opportunity to thank our wonderful board for the work they have done and the time they have invested in helping CPH grow: Nancy Eigel –Miller of 1N5, Eric Neuville of Marathon Health, Latrice Behanan of TriHealth, Dr. Lauren Bartoszek, of The Health Collaborative, and Drs. Debra VanKuiken, Pete Mallow, Kathleen Hart, and Mr. Mike Halloran of Xavier University. Special thanks to Nancy Sampson our tireless Administrator, for her hard work and dedication. Nancy has been selected to assist our university president, Dr. Colleen Hanycz and will be leaving the center for the president's office. She will be missed.

Founder, President, and CEO of Clarigent Health, Don Wright was the keynote speaker at our end of year party. Clarigent helps clinicians detect and track suicide risk and mental health outcomes using vocal biomarkers.

Xavier's Poster Presentations

On April 29th, Xavier hosted their undergraduate research presentations. The Center helped both Pierce Jenkins (undergraduate business analytics major), Mary Claire Casper (undergraduate bio-medical science major), and Hannah Geiger (1st year PSYD student) present their studies.

Pierce's was centered around COVID vaccine history and who and where to intervene.

Mary Claire and Hannah's study focused on the relationship between risk perception, and peer and parent influences on marijuana use of students from 8th to 12th grade in Northern Kentucky.

1N5

1N5 works in schools to provide mental health services and suicide prevention. They take the guessing out of the game, and completely self-fund their activity. 1n5 are launching a new initiative that we at the Center for Population Health wholeheartedly support.  Please read and visit the web site below: https://spring-for-life-2022.webflow.io

Keep Norwood Cool

The Center partnered with Keep Norwood Cool, the University of Cincinnati, and Children's Hospital to develop a survey that asked participants about their feelings of well-being and stress levels near places that are likely to be "heat islands". Norwood High School

Xavier University's Center for Population Health partnered with Norwood High School on April 1st to help address their concerns with vaping.

Senior nursing student, Elizabeth Rehkamp, enjoyed her experience and stated that it gave her a "different viewpoint" on the neighborhood that she has lived next to for four years and allowed her to realize just how bad gentrification is getting and "how much the Norwood community members care about all of the people around them. People in Norwood are always there to lend a helping hand and do what they can for others. It was really touching to see."
