Join ARC in Maryland this October! 

The Appalachian Regional Commission is excited to co-host our 2022 annual conference, One Appalachia: Connection & Collaboration, with the state of Maryland from October 17 to 19 at the Rocky Gap Resort in Flintstone, Maryland. 

Be sure to save the date!

Attendees will be motivated by stories of resilience, inspired by success strategies, and energized by tactics they can use to replicate new economic development opportunities in their Appalachian communities. POWER PROFILE
Congratulations to ARC's Newest POWER Grantees
We're excited to call two new organizations ARC POWER partners! Their awards have brought POWER to a grand total of $319.3 million invested in 395 projects that strengthen and diversify coal-impacted economies since 2015. Learn more about them below and all POWER projects here.
Grantee: Friends of Blackwater
Location: Thomas, West Virginia
Award Amount: $1.2M

The Blackwater Loop and Regional Heritage Trail will support regional tourism through a new 8-mile loop trail and suspension bridge, and installation of wayfinding signage.
Grantee: Center for Metal Arts, Inc.
Location: Johnstown, Pennsylvania
Award Amount: $1.5M

POWER funding will support the renovation of three historic buildings to accommodate more skill and job training in metalsmithing, metal arts training labs, and an exhibition gallery. 
APPALACHIAN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Appalachian Leaders Discuss Culture and Tourism in Corning
The Appalachian Leadership Institute hosted a session in Corning, New York this week focused on culture and tourism in Appalachia. They were joined by ARC Federal Co-Chair Gayle Manchin for a fireside chat at the conclusion of the week.

Hikers, gear and craft vendors, and nonprofit trail partners will gather in Damascus, VA for the town's biggest event from May 13-15.

Bring Free Concerts to Your Community! 
The Levitt AMP [Your City] Grant Awards is an exciting grant opportunity bringing the joy of free outdoor concerts to small to mid-sized towns and cities.

Grant recipients will receive a three-year matching grant of $30K per year, for a total grant award of $90K. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2022.
Workforce Opportunities for Rural Communities (WORC) Funding Now Available
The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the availability of approximately $34.2 million in a fourth round of grant funding for the WORC Initiative, helping workers obtain new opportunities in rural communities. 

Grants will range from $150,00 up to $1.5 million. Proposals are due July 8, 2022.
