The week of April 25th was a whirlwind of meetings for me. That Monday and Tuesday I participated in the annual meeting of all the Holy Cross pastors in the United States, held at our conference center in La Porte. On Wednesday I joined all the priests of the diocese for our spring presbyterate meeting. On Thursday I participated in this year’s first meeting of the Diocesan Budget Committee, with the second meeting in Fort Wayne last Thursday (followed by a Zoom meeting of the Holy Cross Parish Planning Commission to which I belong). That Friday I attended the monthly board meeting of Legatus, for which Bishop Rhoades appointed me chaplain last year. In between all these meetings I tried to squeeze in a little bit of parish work! Of course, this was an unusual week, but it gives you an idea of some of the extra-parish activities that can take some of my time and attention away from the parish...
The life of a parish priest, especially a pastor, can be hectic but also exciting and greatly fulfilling. It is such a privilege for me to be serving at Holy Cross Parish, striving to keep up with the needs of the parish. I appreciate your patience and understanding when it might take a while for me to respond to
those demands.
