Fort Bragg Blue Economy Symposium & Learning Festival — May 19 to 22, 2022 in Fort Bragg, CA. Extension specialists Luke Gardner and Kevin Marquez Johnson have been working alongside Sarah McCormick from the City of Fort Bragg to organize the Blue Economy Symposium for the local community to identify and explore potential opportunities to build a resilient, sustainable and vibrant economy. The symposium will bring together local, state and federal agencies and feature California Sea Grant staff in highlighting efforts to support sustainable fishing economies, aquaculture practices and work force training.

MPA Monitoring Webinar Series: Ask the Researcher — This summer webinar series is hosted by The Ocean Protection Council and will give attendees the unique opportunity to interact directly with researchers involved in MPA long-term monitoring projects. Participants are invited to ask questions to understand the science informing the management of California’s MPA Network. No RSVP required, click the provided zoom link when the webinar begins. Job: Fund Manager — We are hiring a new fund manager to join our dynamic fiscal team. The team is responsible for the accounting activities of our statewide program with research projects, fellowships, and extension services based throughout California. The position is hybrid to start, with the possibility of being fully remote. Application Deadline: May 24, 2022

Fall Field Internship — Located in Windsor, Sonoma County, the Russian River Salmon and Steelhead Monitoring Program monitors native, endangered salmon and threatened steelhead populations to support recovery efforts throughout the watershed. The intern will assist California Sea Grant biologists with scientific data collection for fish and environmental monitoring efforts. Application Deadline: June 13, 2022
