Forest Restoration at
Harriet Wetherill Park, Plymouth Meeting

Sunday, May 22 from 9:30AM - 12PM

Did you know that Harriet Wetherill Park is home to one of Plymouth's oldest sections of forest?

Despite its small size, this forest is home to a great diversity of plants, from large Oaks and Hickories to various spring ephemeral species like Bloodroot and Spring Beauties!

Invasive species like Norway Maple, Japanese Honeysuckle and Privet threaten the forest as they slowly replace these valuable native species.

We'll work to restore the forest by planting native trees in canopy gaps, removing invasives and protecting existing saplings from deer damage.

We'll also take a short walk through the forest and explore the great plant diversity here!

Restoring our Waterways with 175 Trees and Shrubs!

Thanks to the 10 Million Trees for PA project, Colonial Canopy Trees received 175 trees and shrubs to plant along streams in Plymouth and Whitemarsh townships.

These water-loving native plants were planted in riparian zones to help stabilize streambanks, filter and reduce sediment from stormwater runoff, and improve stream water quality. 

Keep an eye out for tree tubes located along streambanks in various parks throughout the area, and watch our trees grow!

We're looking for more Tree Stewards to help us take care of the trees that were recently planted (in red on map below)!

Adopt a tree (or trees) near you and help it become established! Young trees need plenty of water and care, and we like to ensure that all of our trees receive an adequate amount in the first two growing seasons.
