Weekly Encouragement

The Ekklesia DNA at Harvest Valley Pt. 3

As we seek to understand more about what the Lord is saying and doing regarding building His Ekklesia in this region, we must take responsibility for those things that He has given us. We are called to establish the Kingdom of Heaven where the Gates of Hell have been entrenched. Let’s own who we are as a church as we begin to move into our spheres of influence.

The Ekklesia is a Transformational Force

Traditional churches see the church as a field-the focus of ministry, the place where ministry is done. Transformational churches see the world as the field and the church (the people) as the force. Ministry is available here because people are equipped to do it.

Jesus coopted another Greco-Roman tradition in Matthew 18. In the Roman Empire, if you were a citizen of Rome and you needed to make a judgment or decree on behalf of the government while in a distant province, and didn’t have access to the authorities of Rome, you would gather another citizen or two and make some decisions. The Roman law was called the “conventus civium Romanorum” and it stated that wherever two or three Roman Citizens were gathered in Caesar’s name, there Caesar was in the midst of them. Their decrees were then considered to be law.
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matt. 18:19-20 NKJV)

Small groups (3 or more) provide a perfect environment for people to discover, develop, and deploy their individual giftedness and callings.
People are called to reach their world:
• Bed = where you live, your spheres of Influence
• Buck = your occupation-work, school
• Burden = your passions, causes

And He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation. (Acts 17:26 NASB)

The Church is Not Just a Teaching Center; it's a Training Center

People grow best in a grace-filled environment, so we create a place where failure is not fatal. We are a permission-granting, not a permission-withholding institution.

Religious control is a form of wickedness.

Leadership is given by God to equip and empower people to operate in their callings.
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up the body of Christ. (Eph. 4:11 - 1 2 ESV)

Generosity is our default. If you are going to err, always err on the side of generosity. Grace is more than just a gift and certainly more than a doctrine; it is a lifestyle.

Grace does not mean "soft on sin." Grace without justice is not grace. Love and truth must exist together for either one to remain balanced.  We believe in people which is why we can extend grace.
