2022 Swimming NSW State Forum notice

In recent years the Swimming NSW State Forum was held as a three-part webinar series due to COVID-19 restrictions. The attendance at these webinars was fantastic and participation numbers were significantly larger than face to face Forums held previously.

In light of this, the Swimming NSW Board has determined that the future State Forums of Swimming New South Wales, including the 2022 State Forum, will continue to be conducted online over a series of three one-hour webinars. The first webinar will be in held in July 2022.

Once the topics have been confirmed, details of each webinar, including the date, time and log in details will be provided to all Member Associations as well as being posted in the Swimming NSW website.

Member Associations wishing to submit agenda items for the Forum should do so, in writing, by 5.00pm on Sunday 12 June 2022 to:

Chief Executive Officer Swimming NSW Ltd.

PO Box 571

Sydney Markets NSW 2129

New club website design now available from Swim.Rocks
With Swimming Australia closing its free club website platform on 30 June 2022, Swimming NSW has been working with Swim.Rocks to refresh the club website service that has been used by some clubs for several years.

This means, your club will need to make a decision imminently about whether to continue your website service with another provider, or accept Swimming NSW's offer serviced by Swim.Rocks.

Watch the demo webinar recording

The Swim.Rocks new club website service is now available for use. The design is shown above and features:

  • Website shell for clubs to fill with their own content, hosted and with technical support.
  • yourname.swimmingclub.org.au domain name.
  • Redisplay of club Facebook feed.
  • Instructions for uploading and editing content.

Priced at $400pa, clubs can take advantage of the 100% money back guarantee if not entirely satisfied within 30 days (for the website, not optional extras). The optional content migration service is now available for an additional charge of $1,000. Pricing includes GST.

To help clubs understand the new service, Ben Ramsden from Swim.Rocks hosted a webinar on Wednesday 27th April, featuring a live demonstration. You can watch the recording now if you missed the live session.

The ten Child Safe Standards part 4

At Swimming NSW we uphold equity and diverse needs are taken into account. We do this through the support and implementation of Swimming Australia’s Inclusion and Diversity Policy, through the implementation of the Inclusive Swimwear policy, by including dedicated Multi-Class meets and events in our Championship calendars, and by partnering with youth mental health organisations like ReachOut.com.au.

Ideas for implementing standard 4 at your club

  • Offer Multi-Class swimmers opportunities for competition and participation
  • Offer squad alternatives for older kids e.g. yr 12 students ‘swim fit’
  • Empower swimmers to speak up through junior committees
  • Take part in NAIDOC week
  • Include an acknowledgement of country before the start of session
  • Support LGBTI+ awareness and openness
  • Support Mental Health week and use social media to share resources.
  • Give particular attention to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children with disability, and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
