Sunset of BlueJeans in Canvas

Georgia Tech will sunset the BlueJeans video conferencing solution on Monday, May 30, 2022. To prepare for the sunset, the BlueJeans Canvas integration has been disabled. This will only remove the BlueJeans link from Canvas, all recordings will still be available in BlueJeans directly.

Campus users are encouraged to migrate stored BlueJeans recordings to Kaltura MediaSpace by using the BlueJeans Video Exporter tool at mover.bluejeans.gatech.edu before the platform is decommissioned at Georgia Tech on May 30.

Zoom (Georgia Tech's new video collaboration platform) is available and integrated with Canvas. Click here to learn more about using Zoom in Canvas.

Summer 2022 Courses / Canvas Support

The Digital Learning Team wants to ensure that all of your questions are answered as quickly as possible as you set up your courses for Summer 2022.

The following are a few tips to help you get started with your Canvas site before the beginning of a new term:
  • Combine Courses / Sections: Canvas allows instructors to move section enrollments from individual courses and combine them into one course. This feature is helpful for instructors who teach several sections of the same course and only want to manage course data in one location. Click Here For More Details
  • Communicate: Early communication is vital especially for Summer 2022. To communicate with students prior to the start of the term you will need to adjust both the start and end date for your course. and check the box for Students can only participate in the course between these dates.
  • Publish: Remember to publish your course in advance of the course start date.
  • Course Quota: Each course is set with a 6-GB course quota. To better manage your multimedia files, please upload them to Kaltura, then add or embed in your course.

Call for Applications: 2022 - 2023 Teaching with Technology Partnership

During the pandemic, educators and learners worldwide have quickly transitioned and adapted technology to engage in new modes of teaching and learning. Now, as you plan for teaching in the upcoming year, Georgia Tech's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites you to partner with us to leverage technologies to engage your students and support their success.

The Teaching with Technology Partnership (TTP) is a CTL initiative that supports and promotes effective and innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning.

These partnerships involve collaboration between:

  • Faculty Fellows: The Teaching with Technology Faculty Fellows will be the sponsors of collaborative projects with CTL.
  • CTL Learning Technology Specialists: CTL will be a creative partner in the projects selected for the TTP program. Each project will be assigned a CTL learning technology specialist, who will be available to meet with the Faculty Fellows regularly to develop, implement, and assess the projects.
Applications for the 2022 Teaching with Technology Partnership are now open. If you have a project in mind and would like to partner with CTL to work on it, please submit your application by Friday, August 19, 2022.

CTL Course Design Studio

Design or redesign your course with expert guidance from Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) consultants and input from colleagues across campus!

This year we are offering two distinct experiences: participants may choose between an
in-person track and an online track.

In-Person Track (May 16, 18, 23 & 25, Crosland 4160, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.):
  • Participants will be guided through the backwards course design process as they develop or redesign the goals, assessments and learning activities for their courses.
  • Each day will introduce course design frameworks and structures, create time for individual work, and facilitate sharing and feedback with colleagues.
  • This track provides the most guided experience and may be best suited to those developing a new course and/or who are newer to the course design process.
  • Participants will also have access to the Course Design Studio Canvas site, which includes additional topics that may not be addressed during the in-person sessions.
Online Track (May 17, 19, 24, & 26, Zoom, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. ET):
  • Participants will access asynchronous modules via Canvas that provide frameworks, models, and structured exercises designed to help them build course elements, including learning goals, assessments, and learning activities.
  • This track offers the most flexibility for participants who are interested in exploring areas of course design beyond the fundamentals of backwards course design (though the basics are also fully addressed).
  • Participants will engage in synchronous collaborative sessions via Zoom to share their course element designs with colleagues and CTL consultants.
No matter what your previous experience with course design, the Course Design Studio creates time to think about your 2022-23 courses and opportunities to share your ideas and get feedback from colleagues.
