As you read this, I am in Nashville. My father Bob died on Monday, and we are preparing for his funeral. I am grieving, though "not as those without hope do" (1 Thess 4:13) and extremely grateful that he no longer is subject to the bizarre ravages of Lewy Body disease. (If you wish to learn more about this common but underdiagnosed form of dementia, I recommend the brief documentary Spark which covers Robin Williams' battle with it.) While Dad was not a believer, I ask your prayers that God will show him the full measure of divine mercy. May light perpetual shine upon him.

INQUIRERS CLASS
Over the summer, we're putting together a class that invites your questions about Jesus, the Bible, and things that matter, and is especially appropriate for those who are new(ish) to the Episcopal or Christian worldview and practices, or those who haven't examined their faith in a long time. At the end of the class you may choose whether you would like to be Confirmed or Received when our new Bishop visits (TBA). Speak to Mother Beth to learn more.
PUB THEOLOGY
Young adults at Emmanuel! Pub Theology returns tonight! Join Marisa and a few other fine folks as we walk through Luke chapters 19-21. We will once again be meeting at the Blind Pig in downtown Champaign. Questions? Contact the curate!
UNITED THANK OFFERING
This May we are participating in the United Thank Offering, honoring a practice originally created by Episcopal church women. Through UTO, individuals are encouraged to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for those blessings and make a special offering to benefit national and international mission. UTO Envelopes are available at church, or you may give via Breeze; please note UTO in the comments.
