Give your kids a theatrical treat! New dance show for families, Tin Man, is coming to Leeds for the June bank holiday weekend!

Joss Arnott Dance presents this magical new retelling of a classic story, seen through the rusty eyes of the Tin Man on his journey to finding his heart and happiness.

Brilliantly humorous and touching, Tin Man will enthrall children and adults alike with its charming storytelling, bold dancing and music by award-winning composer Anna Appleby, performed live by music ensemble Psappha.

At the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre in Leeds from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 June, performances will be held at 12.00pm and 3.00pm each day. Tickets cost just £11 for adults and £9 for children, and can be booked at theatreleeds.com or by calling 0113 220 8008.

A Reception teacher’s tips for preparing your child for school

The months before your little one starts school make for such an exciting time. September may still seem like a long way off, but it’s never too soon to start preparing your pre-schooler for Reception.

According to Reception Class Teacher Georgi Bird, who works at Ashville College in Harrogate, by making preparation fun, removing any labels or expectations from it, and slotting it easily into your daily routine, it can take any stress or worry out of the process.

In the latest Ashville blog post, Miss Bird reveals her five top things your child needs to help them be ready for school this September:

1. Social interaction

2. A love of books

3. An awareness of maths

4. Physical confidence

5. Independence getting changed

Click the link to find out more. The good news is these are all about learning through play, and your child doesn’t need to be able to count to 100 or recognise all the letters of the alphabet to be ready for Reception! Read the full blog here.
