Sunday, May 15th: Lunar Eclipse Viewing Event
Join the staff of the Emil Buehler Planetarium and the Central Florida Astronomical Society as we observe the total eclipse of the Moon. A lunar eclipse is when the Moon enters the Earth's shadow, creating an eerie red color which has given it the nickname, "Blood Moon". The event is FREE to attend and all are welcome. The viewing event will take place near the central pond located near the E. Ann McGee Student Center just on the other side of the parking lot of the planetarium. The event will begin at 8 pm and will go on until 3 am with total eclipse happening around midnight.

May 7th-31st: Maifest at Hollerbach's!
Hollerbach's is bringing the 𝙈𝙖𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙩 German springtime celebration to Sanford! From May 7-31*, we will be featuring:
- Special Spargel (fresh white asparagus) menu items at Hollerbach's German restaurant, including a huge favorite this time of year in Germany, Spargel Cream Soup!
- Other special menu items, including Strawberry Waldmeister Cheesecake at our German restaurant and the Tiroler Turkey sandwich at our German deli!

May 21st: FREE Event: Sanford's Ride to Freedom
This event isn’t just a bike ride! It is a journey through our community’s rich history.
On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing enslaved people. More than two years later, at the end of the Civil War, on May 20, 1865, General Edward McCook arrived in Tallahassee, FL, read the proclamation effectively ending slavery in the state of Florida.

New Date! June 26th: 1st Annual Karts & Kegs
First Annual Sanford Karts & Kegs is set to debut June 26th, 2022! From the creator of Sofas & Suds, this event will combine many of our towns loves: Beer, Golf Carts, and racing things while people look silly! What the hell is this? Karts & Kegs is a timed Golf Cart racing competition and skills challenge taking place in Sanford, FL on Sunday, May 15th, 2022, 2-6pm. It will be local businesses pitting their racing team of 4 against others to determine who is really the best at driving golf carts and doing physical challenges . . . or who is the worst but yet the crowd favorite.
