Living at Joy Meadows

May is Foster Adopt Appreciation Month!

We are so grateful for families who commit to provide a stable family and safe home life for kids in need. There are several opportunities to recognize and appreciate these families and children this month!

The Colonial House at Joy Meadows is under construction, weather has caused some delays but other building has progressed on the property! Watch the video to learn more about what is involved with being a foster family at Joy Meadows in their new community! Please join in prayer, that a family will have their heart stirred to be a missionary and serve children as foster parents. More info at www.joymeadows.org.

Honor a foster student, who is aging out of the foster system, with a graduation gift of needed items. Order online from an Amazon Wish List and gifts will be delivered to the SKC Campus for packing and wrapping. “Wrappers” are needed to unpackage deliveries and wrap gifts, contact Hannah Mabie, Foster/Adopt Coordinator, hmabie@colonialkc.org to volunteer.

Spring is here and poised to bring new life to all the grass and shrubs around our Church and that also means lawn mowing and trimming begins! Many thanks to all the continuing volunteers! We have a need though to add to the volunteers for the OP Lawn Care Crew. Mower and trimmers are provided.

If you love spending time outdoors AND serving the church at the same time, we need 1 to 2 additional mowers and 6 volunteers to trim. Please contact either Dick Ledoux at dandgleledoux@sbcglobal.net or 913-660-8645; or Donna Jenkins at djenkins@colonialkc.org or 816-501-3911.

“Jesus is not a means to our corporate end. Jesus is not our “fishing guide” who helps us accomplish our goals. Jesus is the GOAL! Jesus is the prize, and being with Jesus should always be the singular greatest desire of the Christian heart.”

Watch Pastor Greg’s sermon, titled “Rekindle the Fire”, which he shared during worship at the SKC Campus. Here is a quote from the sermon: “It’s not over until God says it’s over. It’s not done until God says it’s done. I don’t care about the lies the enemy tells you. I don’t care how they treat you at work, don’t listen to the mean things they say to you, God still has work for you to do, he is just waiting for some people ready to throw themselves into His hands, ready to throw themselves into His work, and ready to trust Him to do the rest.
- Pastor Greg Ealey

P R A Y

Each week we pray for families in our congregation, missionaries we partner with, and service men and women. These people are organized by our Colonial Cares Ministry Team. To send a card or email a note of encouragement, log into your CCB Account for contact information.

  • SKC: Kathy Garrison

  • OP: Bob and Sue Zuroweste

  • Military/First Responder: Issac, Coast Guard, Virginia, Great Nephew of Gayl Fredling

  • Missionaries of the Week: Justin and Sarah Oberndorfer, Founders of Joy Meadows, a ministry which is developing a neighborhood of foster homes. Their desire is to provide loving Christ centered homes for sibling groups of children while they are in foster care. Joy Meadows provides therapy, tutoring, emotional and behavioral support, private lessons, extra-curricular activities. Pray the Lord will be preparing the perfect couples to serve as house parents at Joy Meadows. Please pray for their family to be connected as both Justin and Sarah serve in full time ministry at Joy Meadows. Pray that they would be a blessing as they continue developing their ministry throughout Kansas and Missouri. Their eldest son Jackson recently broke his ankle, which may impact his collegiate studies this fall. Please pray for him as he heads into this new avenue of life, independence, and the pursuit of homework. Joy Oberndorfer is entering the first grade, prayer that she can receive the right resources to flourish and thrive in her new setting. Please keep the Oberndorfer family in your prayers, as we are very appreciative of the blessing they are to our community. Email a note of encouragement to Justin@joymeadows.org.
