Yoga at the Hall

Thursdays, 7:30pm to 8:45, at Bonnie Doon Hall. Nine-class session from May 5 through June 3, $115 (drop in $15). You must be double vaccinated. Community league members only (any neighbourhood). Please arrive early on May 5 to arrange payment/buy membership! More...

Curiosity Café

Drop in for a bev and learn something from your neighbours. Each café will have a topic and some neighbours who are willing to share what they've learned about the topic.
  • May 22: Gardening (evergreens, native Alberta plants, roses, etc)
  • June 19: Outdoor activities (paddle boarding, hiking in the rockies, sailing)
Cabaret seating. Bring a friend and bring your own experience and questions to the Curiosity Café! Third Sundays, 3pm.

NFB and Tea

In the Before Times, we held monthly lunches for older Bonnie Dooners, featuring NFB films. The films always portrayed something interesting about Edmonton, Alberta or Canadian history and culture.

Starting Thursday, May 19, 3:00pm to 4:30 in Bonnie Doon Hall, we resurrect our monthly NFB films, but for afternoon tea instead of lunch. A loonie gets you in for tea, treats and fellowship!

Hockey Afternoon in Canada!

Table top hockey comes to the Bonnie Doon Hall parking lot, Victoria Day afternoon, May 23. At 3pm we'll start playing. Round robin, single knockout, who knows?! We'll figure it out!

We'll have at least one table top set. If you can bring your set, please write to Mark, social@bonniedoon.ca (officials tell us this will not give you an advantage in the tourney 😄).

We'll provide the tables and at least one awning that can cover two games. If you can provide an awning, that would be wonderful!

Spectators welcome!

In the hood...

  • Mill Creek Cleanup. This newsletter goes out before the date is chosen. It usually runs in the last half of May.. Keep an eye on our home page and our social media for the announcement.
  • Lost & Found. In the past month our social media channels have reunited owners with a lost watch and a lost phone. If you don't do the Facetweets, text 587-206-6540 or write support@bonniedoon.ca. Media channels are at the bottom of this email.
  • Thanks to our MLA, Marlin Schmidt, for managing the election of board members at our AGM. He displayed good humour & grace, despite the confusing notes we gave him!

Rent Bonnie Doon Hall

We have stopped renting to people planning large celebrations. The noise, damages and fussing about are not worth the effort. We are looking for renters who come from the Greater Bonnie Doon Area and/or want to mount an event of interest to our residents. [More...]

Most of the league's funding for operating programs and events comes from renting the hall.
