Happy Mothers' Day
(Photo by Debbie Dixon Paver Dolls)

May 2022 Newsletter
May the fourth be with you! I wait all year to say that! So many things associated with May -- May flowers (from April showers), the very merry month of May, May Day celebrated as the first day of summer with a May pole and of course, Mothers' Day. I propose one other celebration for May, Miniature Doll Month!  I know, I know, the national day for Miniatures is July 7th, but July already has independence day so I think May is a much better time to honor the world of Miniature Dolls. Here in Tucson AZ we have a world-renowned miniature doll museum called "the mini time machine" Here is their website https://theminitimemachine.org/. Check it out.

News and updates
May is a little bit slower month for events with only 2 real weekends throughout with Mothers' day and Memorial Day taking up 2 weekends. Please support our events even if it does cost more to participate. During this pivotal time, it is more important than ever to show your support. Word of mouth really remains the BEST form of advertising. Let your doll clubs and friends know about local events, print and pass out flyers in your area or send out a few post cards to your friends. If you are on Facebook, like/follow/share. It is my sincere hope that we can all come together to make all the events successful and if there is anyway I can help, please do not hesitate to ask.

Selling-Dolls.com has a guide for selling at events. Direct link is <HERE>  Even though you have been selling for a long time, you may find some helpful Tips.

I am always for ways to help you with your events so if you have any ideas regarding anything that I have missed, feel free to contact me any time.

A Brief History of Miniatures
Little Shop of Miniatures

It's safe to say that people have been enamored of miniatures throughout human history. After all, miniatures of everyday objects have been found in artifacts dating back thousands of years..

The Earliest Miniatures
Some of the earliest miniatures were created by the Egyptians 5,000 years ago. They made miniature replicas of boats, animals, furnishings, and even servants. These hand-crafted miniatures were placed in tombs within the pyramids. (Sort of makes you rethink the idea of "you can't take it with you," right?)

The Dawn of Dollhouse Miniatures
Dollhouse miniatures got their start about 400 years ago. That's when so-called "baby houses" made their debut in Europe. Despite their name, these miniature houses were off limits for kids. That's because "baby houses" were collectible miniature pieces that featured many fine architectural details and had painstakingly crafted miniature furniture in their interiors.  <READ MORE>
