INTERFAITH SERVICE DAY
Our congregation will participate in an Interfaith Service Day this summer in New Haven, sponsored by Jerusalem Peace Builders, along with other Jewish, Christian and Muslim congregations. Council welcomed the news that the group continues this important work after a Covid hiatus.
The service projects will be held on Sunday, August 7th, starting with an interfaith service at 8:30 a.m. on the New Haven Green. There will be several opportunities for participating in various hands-on service projects in the New Haven area during the morning. At noon, there will be a pizza truck, speeches and celebrations.
Church member Bruce Barrett is on the Jerusalem Peace Builders' Board of Directors and is our liaison for this event. In 2006, Bruce created the “I Wage Peace” movement and has sponsored many such events in the past, including his award-winning documentary, "Billboard from Bethlehem," which we plan to show at our church some time before this event.
Thank you, Bruce, for helping to make this event happen!
