Dear All,

This Saturday morning (7th May, 10am) we're going to plant the hedge I mentioned in my last email. It will be in the space between the cemetery and the pond, nearly opposite the Village Hall. If you're coming please bring a spade, but we do have a couple spare.

The saplings we will be planting will be much the same as those already started by the Infants' School. The new saplings will continue across to fill the gap created by the brambles that have been removed.

We'll dig a very shallow trench (one spade deep and about half wide) then put in the saplings and backfill with soil. There are a lot of trees (about 100 I think) of about 10 different sorts, each with a short cane and protective spiral, but it should not take long to plant them. We'll bring some coffee and snacks for elevenses, and should finish by mid-day.

There was a presentation last night about Solar Streets, on behalf of Ewhurst LEAP and the Cranleigh Climate Action Group. The recording, and more information, can be found here:

There has not been much sun but it did rain today! Not nearly enough, but better than nothing. It will help us to plant the hedge on Saturday. I hope to see you there.

All the best,
Eddie
