Kentucky Derby parties
[ReelHouse is hosting a Derby Day party on Sunday]
It’s time to break out the white pants and elaborate hats. Derby Day is on Saturday and there are a number of ways you can celebrate the historic race. Time Out Market will be streaming the race, serving up mint juleps with wild abandon, and holding a mock race for charity. Hub Hall is also mixing festive cocktails and will host a high-stakes competition for best hat. Make Queen Elizabeth proud. ReelHouse will be hosting their festivities by the water with a Maker’s Mark photo booth, awards for most dapper, and a complimentary boat shuttle over to Pier 6 in Charlestown.
For those celebrating, don’t forget to spoil your mom rotten this weekend. Take her on a beautiful and fragrant stroll through the Arboretum at Lilac Sunday. Then head to the Boston Common for Duckling Day, one of the all time cutest days of the year, when families dress up and enjoy a parade and other activities celebrating the ‘Make Way for Ducklings’ sculpture. Engage in crafting and floral arranging at the Speedway Mother’s Day party, sweat it out (then grab a beer and a bite afterward) at B/SPOKE & Harpoon's FREE Fitness & Flowers event, shower her with local gifts from CambridgeSide's Celebrating Moms Popup or sample chocolate, cheese, and wine pairings with her at the Commonwealth Wine School. Mom deserves it all!
The Lawn On D is back and better than ever. This outdoor event space in South Boston features rotating public art pieces, food and beverages, lawn games, and a packed lineup of live music and themed events for the spring/summer season. This weekend participate in the Citizens weekly cornhole tournament (not for the faint of heart) and jam out to live music from The Far Out, Hit Play, and Gainsville Road. Here you can grab a drink, swing on the iconic circular white swings, and make the most of those precious weekend hours.
