FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

Ladies Ladies Ladies, calling all ladies ( and juniors) who would be interested in doing a learn to drive the race track in their own group with driver education and mentor. Don’t be scared, you can bring your own car and you do not have to push to get fast crazy times, of course you can if you want, but not meant to be a full sprint session. So if you have ever wondered what it would be like to drive around the track and possibly push your skills and the car then this is for you!!! See Kevin’s info below.

The drive to Hinze Dam was fantastic; we split into two groups, one leaving north side and one from the top end of the Gold Coast. I tried very hard to achieve a spirited drive on roads I know are great however every time I tried to set a route the roads were blocked so up Tambourine and through some not so used roads and winding fun then on down to the café. Sadly Robs group fell into the same trap as last time we used the back roads of Beaudesert and got slightly lost. This however does lead to the fun of the day and all were in great spirits when they arrived. Great food, great company, with a huge thank you to the Hinze Dam Café for fantastic food and service. I would highly recommend for a lunch or morning tea.

MacLeans bridge Car show has been cancelled this year due to the field being too wet after all the current rain and there is more coming they say. Quite threatening and severe flooding, something to keep an eye on.

So much is happening the next few months both socially and motorsport so please keep your eyes out for emails and the websites. Social runs, motorkhanas, great club nights and presenters, car detailing days, Porsche and Coffee morning at Shannons all coming within the next month.

UPCOMING MOTORSPORT EVENTS

Khana Championship Rnd 1 and ICC Rnd 2

Our first non-sprint event for 2022 is a Motorkhana out at Willowbank on the 8th May 2022, all day. This event is a round of our Khana Championship and also a round of the ICC Championship. This is an excellent opportunity for a member that is new to motorsport to cut their teeth on a really safe form of motorsport. (Motorkhana’s are generally low speed and always one car at a time; zero chance of car to car contact.)

Thursday Afternoon – Queensland Raceway

This will be the fourth round of the Shannons PCQ Sprint Championship but in addition, we will be offering Entrée Class, Womens Only and a Hot Lap with Madeline Stewart, current Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge competitor.

Entrée Class

This is offered to our beginners and first-timers wish to experience their own car on the track (does not have to be a Porsche) A mentor will be assigned to each entrant with one lucky female entrant being assigned Madeline as their mentor (Please note that Entrée Class is available for both male and female members, junoir members will be back initial application)

Women’s Only Sprint Group

For any female members wishing to sprint and have previous experience, this group is available to them. Note min numbers are required

Hot Lap

At the conclusion of the day, 5 lucky women will get the opportunity to experience a hot lap with Madeline Stewart in a Porsche 991 GT3 Cup Car

The ownership of QR has changed and so has the fee structure, the track hire fee has exactly doubled. Lakeside has also gone up by 50%. Morgan Park has also increase but it is a lot more modest. As a result our entries fees for 2022 will now be:

Lakeside Weekend Afternoon Sprint $205.00

QR Weekend Afternoon Sprint $225.00

QR Week Day Afternoon Sprint $205.00

Morgan Park Weekend $205.00

It has been more than 8 years since PCQ cancelled a booked event, regrettably, in 2022, if an event does not achieve the min. numbers required, then we reserve the right to cancel the event.

Those minimum number of entries will be:

Lakeside Weekend Afternoon Sprint 20 entries

QR Weekend Afternoon Sprint 25 entries

QR Week Day Afternoon Sprint 30 entries

Morgan Park Weekend 35 entries
