The mental health impacts of COVID-19 and the rapidly changing world for our teenagers are recognised triggers for the development of disordered eating. In response, the CYMHS Eating Disorders Program will offer a series of interactive webinars.
The Paediatric Eating Disorder webinar mini-series launches Wednesday, May 18th, continuing weekly until June 15th. Dr. Michelle Boyd, Paediatrician, will facilitate sessions, alongside an inter-professional expert panel.
Sessions are relevant to GPs and their colleagues, as well as school based youth health nurses suppoorting children and young people with eating disorders.

COPD in general practice: Practical application of clinical guidelines

Management of COPD in primary care is founded upon making an accurate differential diagnosis, initiating treatment in a timely manner and stepping up therapy as appropriate. This activity explores the practical application of latest Australian and international clinical guidelines to effectively manage COPD and maintain patient quality of life.
On completion of this education activity participants will be able to:
Define the steps for differential diagnosis between COPD and asthma and how this informs the treatment pathway.
Demonstrate an understanding of the COPD treatment pathway from first diagnosis, and treatment with LAMA monotherapy.
Evaluate the appropriate circumstances to step-up a patient’s treatment to LAMA/LABA medication (stepwise approach).
Rationalise the appropriate use of ICS triple therapy for COPD patients according to the COPD-X guidelines, including withdrawing ICS, if recommended.
Describe important considerations when choosing a device for people with COPD.

The Preventing Dementia MOOC (massive open online course) examines the latest evidence on dementia risk factors and ways to reduce the risk. This free online course is open to everyone and members of your network may be interested in learning about dementia risk reduction.
Recent research† suggests that around 40% of dementia cases might be prevented or delayed by modifying risk factors.
