Healing God's Creation | Sermon Series

Sundays at 11.45am (Bible Study) & 4pm (Sermon Series)
May & June

The Revd Helen Dwyer, Chaplain at Melbourne Grammar School, commenced this new series last Sunday, her sermon can be watched again above. This new series takes us into what is required for the earth to be healed and explore what is the attitude and action that God desires that will enable us to give him glory and care for his creation? The sermons will be preached at our Sunday 4pm Choral Evensongs, with the studies commencing this Sunday after the 10am service - please head to the David Penman Room at 11.45am if you wish to join.

Our Artist-in-Residence, Canon Glenn Loughrey, will be creating some artwork during each of the Sunday evening services responding to the theme of the readings and sermon, with the complete works to be revealed at the end of the series. Stay tuned!

Ways to pray at home

Pray with us

The World
The conflict in Ukraine now extends to their independent orthodox church, which has asked for the removal of the Russian Orthodox presence following Putin’s refusal to agree to an Easter ceasefire. It is really difficult for us to grasp the overall situation. However when we hear that Russia has agreed to safe passage for evacuees from Mariupol, then within days that Russia is shelling the steel plant where Ukranian civilians are sheltering, we can draw some conclusions. In our continued prayers, we ask God to remember his people in such a terrible situation, and that they might know God hears and understands their plight. In our prayers this week, we focus on the Americas. The United States may be about to overturn women’s constitutional right to abortion, while many other parts of the world move in the opposite direction. May these decisions be informed and inspired and that God would overrule political decisions. We pray for 10,000 evacuees in New Mexico where a controlled burn is now blazing and is joined to another. A dozen blazes are impacting southwestern United States, caused, according to experts, by climate change with the expectation that they will become more widespread. March records indicate a widening in the US trade deficit as reliance on imports increased. Given China’s COVID situation, we pray for careful management and sharing of all our world’s resources.

Our City & State
With confirmation that the Commonwealth Games of 2026 will be held in Melbourne and four regional hubs, it will be a significant and much-needed boost to businesses and tourism in Melbourne and Victoria. Following the success of the F1 Grand Prix, the plans to host further international sporting events give a great opportunity.
