Cleaning Up our Downtown
One of the ways that the City is supporting a safe and welcoming Downtown is by keeping the area clean for everyone to live, work and explore!
Crews will be working in the Downtown area all summer, picking up debris and doing various clean-up tasks. Our employees are equipped with the proper equipment and have safety protocols in place to ensure waste is removed and disposed of safely.
If you see public property litter, overflowing garbage cans or other concerns, please let us know by reporting the location and concern to 311.

Moose Hide Campaign Day
On May 12, the City will observe Moose Hide Campaign Day. On this day, Edmontonians are invited to attend a public event at City Hall Plaza, and encouraged to wear the moose hide pin and take the pledge to help end violence against women and children.
The Moose Hide Campaign is an Indigenous-led movement started in 2011 by Paul Lacerte and his daughter Raven as they were hunting near the Highway of Tears in northern British Columbia. Highway of Tears is a place where many women, particularly Indigenous women, have gone missing or been murdered.

Jasper Ave Streetscape Improvements
In an effort to create a more green and walkable Downtown, streetscape improvements are being done on Jasper Ave, 97 Street and 100 Street. These improvements will create a more spacious, green, accessible and pedestrian-friendly Downtown.
The improvements include:
- Wider sidewalks
- More trees and landscaping
- Upgraded street lighting and street furniture
- A shared use path providing a new connection from the 100 Street Funicular to 99 Street and ultimately the rest of the Downtown Bike Network
Streetscape improvements are also planned or underway in multiple other places in Edmonton's core:
- 103 Avenue (100 Street-101 Street)
- 105 Avenue (109-116 Street)
- 103a Avenue (97 Street-101 Street)
- 99 Street (Jasper Avenue-102 Avenue)
This project was funded primarily by the Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy.
