Thank you to Nigel for this picture of rhododendron flowers at Hillfield Priory.
There is a lot of information this  week—there's lots going on! So please do read through the email so you're aware of what's happening.

We've made a video to help get the message out about our 'Have an Impact' appeal. We need to raise £10,000 in additional regular income to continue to maintain our presence and impact as a church serving the community. As outlined at the AGM, we hope to increase regular giving by £5,000 from members of our congregation over the next month and by £5,000 by appealing to the wider community over the course of this year. If you have a Standing Order and you are able to increase it, please pick up a form from the back of the church or speak to Gill or Nigel Bicknell. If you are a new regular giver please get started by scanning the QR Code, and signing up to the Parish Giving Scheme—a secure online way to support us.

Pick up or download a copy of the 'Have an Impact' brochure to find out more.

Baptism Celebration Service, Sunday May 15

Baptism Celebration Service, Sunday May 15

On Sunday May 15 we will have Baptism Celebration Services in both churches. In these Family Services we invite the families of all those who have been baptised recently back to church to celebrate their baptism and to give thanks for our shared life in Christ. Recently, in this case, means pre-pandemic as we last had a service like this in 2018! Those who come are invited to bring their baptismal candles and light them, and anyone who still has their own baptismal candle is invited to bring it and light it during the service as we all recall our baptisms and give thanks together.

Kelsie Wright Proud of Bucks Award

Congratulations to Kelsie Wright, who has been awarded the 'Best Young Person Contribution' by the Missenden Community Board in the Proud of Bucks awards! Kelsie's citation records her many contributions to village life, including the valuable contribution Kelsie has made to our common life here at Holy Trinity, Prestwood. This contribution was specifically referenced by Cllr Peter Martin in the recent Prestwood Village Association AGM.

Lent Appeal Result

Lent Appeal Result

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to our Lent Appeal this year, Three Strands: Different Peoples, Equal Needs. We raised an amazing total of £5072.36. In line with our allocation of funds this means we have achieved our aim of paying in full for a new solar powered irrigation pump for our long-standing partners African Village Support (AVS) at £1500.00. We have also raised £1786.18 for Wycombe Homeless Connection, which will provide over 14 days of  free legal advice and support to people facing homelessness. That could mean seven families will not face the trap of homelessness, and avoid the trauma, disruption and waste of resources that it causes. We have provided £1000.00 to St Matthew's, Burnley, to offer the young people of their church a day of community support, such as an outing or trip that would otherwise be unattainable for them, along with £786.18 to help the Community Foodbank there.

New Purificators at HTP

New Purificators at HTP

Purificator is the name for the decorated cloth that is used to wipe the chalice at communion. We were running low, so we are delighted that our Sacristan, Su Mace, has made and embroidered a new set for us to use. Thank you, Su! We are always on the look out for more people to join our servers and sacristy team. Please think about taking part!

Misbourne Area Youth Survey

Misbourne Area Youth Survey

Everyone is invited to complete for themselves and spread the word about the Mayouth (Misbourne Area Youth) Needs Survey available here: https://mayouth.org.uk/needs/. The Missendens Community Board have commissioned the team and the young people to conduct research in to the needs of young people. They have produced an online survey and are currently in the phase of interviewing members of the community. Get in touch and get involved!

New HTP PCC Members

Thank you to all who attended our AGM on April 3. At the meeting Colin McBride and Barbara Paterson were elected as our churchwardens for the coming year. Also elected onto the PCC were Alex Fallon, Hannah Goldsmith and Sandra Rolfe-Dickinson. Please do congratulate them on their new roles!

Five Star Food Hygiene Rating

Five Star Food Hygiene Rating

Congratulations to Fran and her Make Lunch team. Not only was the pre-Easter Make Lunch the biggest and best so far with eight families joining, it was also the day the Environmental Health Officer arrived--and gave a five star rating to the team in the Hall kitchen. Well done everybody!

Regular Giving

Regular Giving

You can give regularly through the Parish Giving Scheme.  The Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) is a secure, established service for managing Direct Debit donations, designed to support churches to fund their mission and ministry.

We would like you to make a regular monthly payment, as this helps us to plan ahead for the year. A sizable proportion of us give between £50 and £250 per month, with some giving less and some giving more. We all need to give proportionately to support the work of our church. This means thinking about what other costs we have in our lives, and valuing our church and its life sensibly within that.

The PGS makes it possible for donors to:

  • Donate monthly, quarterly or annually by Direct Debit
  • Sign up to inflation-linked giving annually
  • Enhance your gift to your church by having Gift Aid at 25% added to your giving
  • Give securely and donate anonymously, if you prefer
