TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK

The BCA staff/students/parents have been celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, giving thanks to our outstanding faculty with events every day, including: Monday’s Appreciation Breakfast, Tuesday’s Student Flower Delivery, Wednesday’s Faculty Luncheon, Thursday’s Super Secret Event, Friday’s All-Staff Pickup, and a newly renovated and updated Teacher’s Lounge. Our beloved faculty is the beating heart of Barrington Christian Academy, and we thank them all for their faithful dedication and hard work.

ARTS IN BLOOM

BCA presents the Arts in Bloom program on May 9th and 10th with three very special events.

  • K-12 Art Show in the Multipurpose Room (5/9 8:30-2:30 PM + 6:30-8:30 PM and 5/10 8:30-2:30 PM)
  • Elementary & Middle School Chorus Picnic on the playground under the big tree (5/9 at Noon for Explorers/Scouts/Voyagers and 5/10 at Noon for Trailblazers, Mountaineers, & Middle School). Pack a lunch, bring a blanket/chairs, and some sunscreen. If rain shows up we will move to Cedar Hall.
  • K-5 Poetry in the Garden is 5/9 and 5/10, immediately following the Chorus Picnic or stroll through while visiting the Art Show.
Volunteer Opportunity:  We could use the help of six volunteers to take down the artwork and carefully package it up to be returned to the student artists.  This will take place afterschool on Tuesday, May 10th and on Wednesday morning.  Sign up at bca.fyi/volunteer.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY BOOK DRIVE

NHS is happy to announce that BCA is hosting a book drive for our brothers and sisters in Kenya! Bring in any genre books for any age range (as long as they are appropriate) and drop them off at the bin located near Mrs. Sutton’s office (through May 27th). After the books have all been collected, they will be sent to church libraries in Kenya.

PROM 2022 ENCHANTED FOREST 5/14

BCA is excited for Prom 2022! High School students are invited to the Enchanted Forest at the Clarion Hotel Ballroom in Seekonk on Saturday, May 14th from 7-10 PM. Tickets are $50 per person (through May 9th and $70 afterwards). Please see Mrs. Sutton to fill out your Prom form.

3 vs. 3 BASKETBALL CHALLENGE STARTS FRIDAY 5/6

BCA’s 3 v 3 league starts this Friday in Cedar Hall!  The league will run for four weeks, and the championship tournament will take place on Tuesday, June 7th.  The top six teams will get into the playoffs with the first and second seeds getting a first-round bye.
You can check out the schedule at https://playpass.com/go/RvxNR9M?v=schedule.

If there is a week that you are down a player, you will have to forfeit the game or play with only two players.  Be ready on time to play.

Nurse's Desk Update

There has been one new case of COVID-19 since last week's communicator was sent out. Students in elementary grades are encouraged to do an at-home test if they develop a symptom.
Bristol county (which BCA is in) remains in low community transmission, however other RI counties are currently in medium transmission.

  • Test To Treat Program: Through this program, people are able to get tested and – if they are positive and treatments are appropriate for them – get a prescription from a healthcare provider, and have their prescription filled all at one location. A Test to Treat locator is available to help find participating sites. A call center is also available at 1-800-232-0233 (TTY 1-888-720-7489) to get help in English, Spanish, and more than 150 other languages – 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

  • Self-test distribution program: You can order free COVID-19 tests through the mail by visiting covidtests.gov. You won’t be asked for insurance information or payment information when you order your free tests.

BCA also has free test kits to be sent home or picked up if needed. Please let me know if you need one!  The Test to Treat program is for anyone 12 and older who has mild-moderate symptoms to get treated with free oral anti-viral medication.

Parents are reminded to please do an at-home test if your child has symptoms, and communicate results with me. They do not necessarily need to miss school if they test negative.
