Reno Build Weekends

The first two Reno build weekends are now behind us. Many thanks to Oscar, Andre, Grant, Peter, Reba, Peter, Jorge, Paul, Indigo, Michael, David, Ben, Ben, and Mark who came out and worked from early in the morning until late at night getting all of our camp gear ready for Burning Man 2022.

We’ve scrubbed everything in the kitchen, power washed the floors of the Shiftpod tents, installed the interior decor of the Pillow Fort, painted the storage trailer, installed all new shelving and ratchet tracks in the storage trailer, inventoried every single shade tarp, and bought tons of new equipment including acres of new shade, a fantastic sound system that will knock your socks off, lots of new lighting, new furniture, new generators, three more refrigerator/freezers for the kitchen, and a lot of other little things. In short, we’re about 95% ready to go to Burning Man in terms of physical infrastructure.

About Our Tents

If you camp with us and don’t bring your own tent, we can rent you space in camp-provided Shiftpod II tents. These are very spacious (you can stand up inside) for two people and quite comfortable at the burn. You’ll also get a basic army-style cot.

Besides that, you should bring everything you need to make your life comfortable for a week in the desert. In terms of your living situation, you’ll definitely need to bring a sleeping bag or other bedding, maybe a sleeping pad to make the cot more comfortable, a pillow, lights for the inside of your tent, and maybe some collapsible storage cubbies to stay organized.

It gets pretty cold at night, so make sure you have warm bedding. If you want to sleep during the day, it will be extremely hot. We provide one fan per tent which will help a lot, but you may also want to look into the Yurt Cooler project for a neat way to make a simple swamp cooler for your tent that will work great in the Black Rock Desert. Don’t bring an air conditioner; we don’t have enough electricity in camp to power it. We will have an air conditioned nap space in the pillow fort during the hot afternoons exclusively for Turtles. And there are several hammocks out in the main shade area which many people find much cooler than tents if you want to sleep during the day.

  • Returning campers: please note, we are no longer providing sleeping bags or tent lights. You’re on your own for that from now on.
