South East Technological University (SETU) Establishment 

May 1st saw the establishment of the regions first university with the designation of the South East Technological University following the amalgamation of Institute of Technology Carlow and Waterford Insitute of Technology. More here.

Female Apprenticeships Encouraged

Congratulations to Deirdre O’ Byrne, St Pauls Community College, who successfully secured an Electrical Instrumentation apprenticeship with Ball Corporation, through Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board female scholarship initiative. See more here

Offshore Renewable Hub planned for Rosslare Port 
Plans for a new Rosslare Europort Offshore Renewable Energy Hub were announced recently in anticipation of significant offshore wind energy farms off the South East cost of Ireland. Phase 1 of a €150 million Masterplan is underway and a €200 million Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Hub development is planned to be completed over the next five years.   More here.
Drive to Train & Recruit more Construction Workers Launched 
Ministers Harris and Humphreys have launched a new drive to recruit construction workers. There are significant opportunities for craft and professional roles in the South East with more than 15,000 currently employed. See https://www.solas.ie/future-building/
