Southlands Singing Group - first date
We are going to meet for our first session of the new singing group at 9.30am on Sunday 8th May, in the church. We hope to sing 9.30 - 10.10am, so please arrive a few minutes earlier than that. For the moment, we will just sing for fun. All welcome.
Plant sale for refugees
York Welcomes Refugees, a group working to welcome a refugee family to York through Community Sponsorship (official Home Office/UNHCR scheme), is having a Plant Sale at Acomb Methodist Church on Saturday 7th May, 10.30-12.00. Come and buy some plants to fill your garden - or donations of potted and labelled plants on the day much appreciated. Hot drinks and cakes also available!
Divine Focus - Photographers Church
This photography group meets monthly online. The next session is 4.30pm Sunday 15th May. More info can be found here: https://mailchi.mp/3aa89a07a187/surprising
West Thorpe Methodist Church friendship group
11th May 1.45pm.
Speaker: Fiona Andrews from Dementia Forward Yorkshire. Everyone is welcome to come along and learn more about dementia and how this charity is able to help. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be served after the meeting.
Street-Re-Cycle 15 May
Planet South Bank are organising another of their street recycling days on Sunday 15th May (11-3). If you register, you can put your unwanted items out on your doorstep and others will have a list to know which households are taking part. You can either give items away for free, ask for a donation, or charge for them. We have used this a lot in the past to de-clutter the church. To register, contact Pie Waller on 07761 642160. More info at: Planet South Bank. The Whittakers will have put their free junk out before going to church that day!
Jubilee Afternoon Tea
At 2.30pm on Saturday 4th June we plan to have a bring and share afternoon tea in the community garden. We are inviting members of the church, the gardening volunteers and the artists. It will be free but we will ask those attending to sign up in advance (soon but not yet) so we know numbers expected and what people plan to bring.
Praying for our Circuit
The church on the Circuit Prayer Rota for 8th May is Hessay. Thank God and pray for the work of God in that place.
Many young people have struggled during the Covid19 pandemic. Pray especially those reaching the end of school or college uncertain about their future.
If there is anything you would like included in these weekly emails, please send them to me by Friday lunchtime.
Regards, Naomi
