A selection of Classical Flamenco music

Classical Flamenco is the first album to be released at NativeDSD by HR Recordings. It features guitarist Esteban Gonda in a new DXD recording.

The album features a selection of Classical Flamenco music from traditional Spanish flamenco composers before Paco de Lucía. These are real classics of the most pure Spanish flamenco guitar.

Music by masters like Sabicas, Mario Escudero, Niño Ricardo, Esteban de Sanlúcar, Manolo Sanlúcar. Along with two original compositions by Esteban Gonda. A real discovery from the very young new classical flamenco guitar playing!

New Pure DSD Release

Exclusive early release, 4 weeks ahead of official release date.

The aesthetic of the fragmentary

Italian pianist Domenico Codispoti has been called one of the finest young pianists. Notebook is his first album on the Eudora label.

Notebook is a marvelous voyage through the aesthetic of the fragmentary, by the hand of Chopin’s 24 Preludes, op. 28 and Janáček’s first book from “On an Overgrown Path” and his Piano Sonata “1. X. 1905”. As Luca Chiantore states in the accompanying liner notes, this album “is characterized by the fleeting nature of works that speak to us of the fragility of existence”.

Pianist Domenico Codispoti plays a 1957 Model D Steinway & Sons piano where he brings the full brilliance of his pianism to his chosen repertoire, one that reflects the rich and complex inner life of Chopin and Janáček.

This is a Stereo and 5 Channel Pure DSD 256 recording. It is available in the recorded Stereo and 5 Channel DSD 256 bit rates as well as in Stereo and 5 Channel DSD 256 and Stereo DSD 512 exclusively at NativeDSD.

New DSD Release

Music from prison

Messiaen’s most famous work, Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time), was composed while a captive in a German prisoner of war at Stalag VIII A, located near the town of Görlitz-Moys in Silesia, Germany. Messiaen met there three fellow prisoners who were also accomplished musicians: Etienne Pasquier, a world-class cellist who had already secured an international reputation as a member of the Pasquier Trio; Jean Le Bou-laire, a violinist who had studied at the Paris Conservatory; and Henri Akoka, a clarinetist who was a member of the Paris-based Orchestre National de la Radio. Together, this unusual ensemble formed the basis for one of the most extraordinary works of the 20th century.

Rooted in his deeply Christian faith, the Quatuor is inspired by the 10th chapter of the Book of Revelation. It was also Messiaen’s first composition to include bird song, in addition to his developing use of color imagery, and his continuing exploration of many interesting and novel ways of rhythmic organization to create a feeling of timelessness.

Two of the most highly esteemed classical musicians in Denmark, violinist and concertmaster Christina Åstrand and pianist Per Salo (AKA Duo Åstrand/Salo) are joined by two solo players from The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Johnny Teyssier, clarinet, and Henrik Dam Thomsen, cello for a performance as pure as crystal and as immense as space.

Album of the Week - 25% off

Michelle Mayne-Graves and her Lifeline Quartet perform spirituals from the Civil War and earlier celebrating code songs for the Underground Railroad. These spirituals include hidden messages about maps, navigational strategies and timing for slaves to escape toward freedom in the Northern States and Canada.

For the Lifeline Quartet's debut album, Yarlung chose "If I Can Help Somebody" to be the opening track. This song not only honors Harriet Tubman, but reveals Michelle's generous heart as well. Harriet Tubman is one of the better known heroes who escaped slavery herself and then worked as a "conductor" on the Underground Railroad, helping subsequent groups of people flee to the North.

"Wade in the Water" serves as a reminder of where to walk in the rivers to make it harder for dogs to scent people escaping at night. "I'm On My Way to Canaan's Land" talks about the route to Canada.

Michelle lives what she sings. In addition to directing choirs, performing spirituals and helping to coordinate and lead veterans singing groups, Michelle Mayne-Graves supervises a team and works as a nurse assisting homeless veterans at the Veteran's Administration in Los Angeles.

The 25% discount is automatically applied in your cart until May 13th, 2022, when we announce the new Album of the Week.
