Summer 2022 Upcoming Important Dates

  • May 10: Summer term and summer session 1 classes begin
  • May 10: Last day for students to add courses using online registration for 4-week Session 1
  • May 13: Last day for students to add courses using online registration for Summer Full Term, 6-week Session 1 and 8-week Session 1
  • May 30: Memorial Day - no classes, offices closed

Submit Your Summer 2022 Graduation Application

If you are planning to graduate in Summer 2022, now is the time to apply for graduation. All applications for graduation are due by Friday, May 27 in GRADFORMS.

ESHESA 2577: Diversity and Social Justice in Leadership
Course Description: Builds on intellectual and experiential engagement with issues of difference, diversity, social justice, and alliance-building, with a particular emphasis on race, ethnicity, and gender.

ESPHE 2241 – Integrative Learning: How the Brain Learns (Social and Behavioral Sciences Foundation)
Course Description: Current and emerging theoretical and cultural conception of integrative learning based on current brain research.

ESPHE 3206 – School and Society (Race, Ethnicity, and Gender Diversity Foundation)
Course Description: Use of concepts and methods of history, philosophy and the social sciences to grasp the interrelationship between a diverse society and education.

ESPHE 3410 – Philosophy of Education (Historical or Cultural Studies Foundation)
Course Description: An introduction to key philosophical issues in education, focusing on the questions: Who should be educated? What should be taught? Who gets to decide?

Apply for the new Anti-Racism in Education certificate program in Ed Studies

This certificate program enables students to engage in a focused study of the historical context, theories, values, and aims of anti-racism work within educational projects (across a broad range of settings). This course of study will equip students with the understandings necessary to carefully evaluate and/or endorse existing or novel educational efforts. This certificate can be pursued both concurrently with a graduate degree and stand-alone by non-degree seeking students.

Upcoming Fire Evacuation Drill in Ramseyer Hall

There will be a Fire Evacuation Drill in Ramseyer Hall on May 18, from 10-10:30 a.m. If you are in the building during the drill evacuation exercises, you will actively participate in the drill activities. This is just a reminder to inform anyone who will be in the building during the drill.

Summer Construction Impacts Beginning Monday, May 9

Beginning May 9, southbound College Road will be closed between Woodruff Avenue and the Page Hall loading dock. Westbound Annie and John Glenn Avenue will be closed between College Road and Tuttle Park Place. Northbound Olentangy River Road will be closed between Kinnear Road and Herrick Drive. View the new traffic impact map tool online and search impacts by start date. Information is also available in the Ohio State app. Download the latest app version and click on the “campus” tab to view the map. You also can sign up for OSUGo traffic alerts to opt-in to text notifications about campus impacts.

OUAB Grad/Prof Quiz Night
Hosted by the Ohio Union Activities Board. Join us as grad/prof students get together for a night of trivia and fun! Pre-arranged and impromptu-created teams compete in a night of trivia. Prizes are awarded to the top team of the evening. Check in begins at 6:30 p.m.  First question begins at 7 p.m. All teams must register for each quiz night. Please visit ouab.osu.edu/grad-prof/social-engagement-programs/quiz-night for more information on how to register. Teams may include up to 50% non-student guests. Due to overwhelming popularity, registrations the day of the event may not be available. Check out the website for fuller details. The registration period for a quiz night begins at the conclusion of the previous quiz night.
The Educational Studies student newsletter accepts announcements and events that pertain to the department’s graduate student community. The submission deadline is noon every Thursday.
