MAY 5, 2022

We know that learning new skills can be scary. It’s one reason that the payoff at the end of class is so great. But getting through the door is a hurdle we sometimes hear about from our students.

That’s one reason we emphasize our community approach to learning. Yes, you will gain skills and create something amazing. Just as important, you will be supported in that learning by our staff, instructors and the other students in your class.

So why not give Spinning a try? Or build that Canoe Paddle? Or learn Indian Hand Block Printing? No matter your skill level or the outcome, you can trust that you’ll be supported every step of the way.

Happy Mother’s Day to all!

THIS WEEKEND

Intro to Tunisian Crochet

Here's another skill to add to your growing crochet passion! Learn the basics of Tunisian crochet, a cross between crochet and weaving that produces a waffle-like texture. You'll find it easy to learn and fun to work with. A few spaces remain for this class on Saturday, May 7. Register now!

Just Announced!
Beginning Spinning Wool

If you've ever wanted to try spinning, now is your chance! We provide the equipment, you learn the basics of turning wool into yarn and gain an understanding of how to create your own yarn for other fiber and knitting projects.

Over the course of two sessions, we'll cover why wool spins, how to prepare it for spinning, the basics of the spinning wheel and how to spin on a spinning wheel. Sign up now for this 2-part class on May 17 & 24!

Featured Class
Ma La Flavors of Sichuan—Mapo Tofu & Sweet/Sour Cabbage

Mapo Tofu is having a moment but instructor Patti Isaacs Rescigno has been cooking it for decades. This isn’t tofu masquerading as cheese, eggs, or meat; it’s tofu in its unapologetic original form, with the ma-la (numbing and spicy) seasoning characteristic of China’s Sichuan province.

Learn and prepare several dishes and take home any leftovers! Register now for this June 11 class held at our partner location, Christ Lutheran Church in Marine on St. Croix.

New classes are being added daily! Visit marinemillsfolkschool.org/classes-all for the most complete schedule.
