Poll Says - "YES" to Public Meetings
Mayor still says "NO".

FACT:   After the failure of negotiations with Slate Management, WBRA sponsored an online survey (SPEAKUPWASAGA.COM) to ask residents specifically if they thought the Town should hold public meetings before selling the beachfront properties to Bayloc Developments, the fifth-rated RFP respondent.

FACT:  To date, over 450 residents filled out the survey and left comments. A resounding 95% want a public meeting BEFORE Council votes on the sale of the town-owned beachfront properties.

FACT:  In late April, WBRA engaged well-respected Mainstreet Research to conduct a scientific poll to gauge the importance of public meetings to the entire population of Wasaga Beach. The results show that 89% feel the importance ranges from Very Important to Somewhat Unimportant (but still important) and only 5% said Very Unimportant (unnecessary). The poll results are consistent with the survey results.

FACT:  WBRA held a rally on Saturday, April 30 at the Recplex to express support for public meetings. Participants rang bells or used whistles while hundreds of motorists honked in support as they drove by.

FACT:   In an interview with CTV News, Mayor Nina Bifolchi is quoted as saying that once a deal is struck and the developer has a plan, they will then vote. The article also states; "The proposed development will include a multi-story residential building with commercial properties at the bottom."

FACT:   Through the poll, the survey, and the rallies, all indications are that the residents of Wasaga Beach want a say in what happens to the beachfront properties before Council votes on the sale of them to Bayloc Developments.

FACT:   In 2018, no one voted for six-storey condominiums on Beach Area One.

As of the date of this publication, there is still no response from Mayor Bifolchi to our email letter of April 8th, 2022, requesting public meetings.
