Worship With Us

This week's message - Plot Twist: Does God Care?

Sometimes when we look at our lives and we look at the world around us, it just feels like evil is winning. But we don’t need to despair. The biblical book of Revelation was written to strengthen our faith and renew our hope when evil seems to have the upper hand. So in this sermon series, we’re exploring the beautiful plot twist that Revelation assures us is coming and the extraordinary difference it makes in our lives. Today we’re talking about how much God cares about us and what that means.

Join us for in-person worship today at 10 am in the AMC Classic Durham, or watch online worship by following the link below. Take Kindred on the go by downloading the Sermon Podcast on Apple or Spotify. However you choose to join in, we are glad to be worshiping together with you!

Covid Safety Update: Masking during in-person worship is currently optional for worshipers. Childcare workers and those serving near children must remain masked, along with certain other volunteers. As always, we will continue to monitor local covid conditions and regularly consult local health officials for guidance regarding our masking policies. Contact Pastor Daniel with any questions or concerns: dchilds@universityumc.church.

Worship Online Anytime

Volunteer Appreciation

Immediately following in-person worship TODAY, May 15th.

Kindred volunteers are amazing people who generously give their time and energy to make in-person worship possible for all of us. So we want to say a big ‘thank you’ to all of our wonderful volunteers! If you are currently a volunteer (or a Kindred leader), join us after worship today to pick up a small gift and enjoy some light refreshments.

If you are not yet a volunteer, we’d love to get you plugged in. It’s a great way to meet others and support the church. Volunteers typically serve 9-11:45 am (attending worship included) a couple of Sundays per month. Interested? Reach out to Kandis, kflorian@kindrednc.church.

Kindred 101

New to Kindred and want to learn more? Join us after in-person worship next Sunday, May 22, 11:15 am-12:15 pm.

If you’re new or new-ish to Kindred, you’re invited to stick around for a casual,1-hour gathering called ‘Kindred 101’ right after in-person worship on Sunday, May 22nd. At ‘Kindred 101’ you’ll get to meet the pastor and staff, hear about Kindred’s mission and values, ask questions, and get practical suggestions for ways you can get involved.

If you’ve visited Kindred in-person or online, this is the perfect next step that will help you consider how your faith journey and Kindred’s mission might align. No registration is required. Free childcare is provided.

We’ll meet in a room adjacent to our worship space at AMC. We hope to see you there! If you have questions about this event, please reach out to Kandis, kflorian@kindrednc.church.

Hangout at Hi-Wire

Join us Sunday, May 22nd, 3-5pm @ Hi-Wire Brewery in Durham.

Save the date! This is a casual time to hang out, make some new friends, and catch up with old ones. If you’re new to Kindred, this is a great time to come meet others in our community. If you’re not new to Kindred, this is a great time to invite a friend to come meet us. Kids and dogs welcome! Feel free to bring a blanket to sit on in case we’re on the lawn. Don’t drink? No problem and no pressure. All are welcome! Get directions to Hi-Wire in downtown Durham here.

Hiring: Sunday Setup Helper

Kindred is in need of a reliable worker on Sundays 8 am-12 pm to help set-up and take-down equipment for in-person worship.

We’re looking to hire someone to assist our sound engineer and our volunteers in the set-up for Sunday worship and in the take-down afterward. Strong candidates will be reliable, punctual, consistently available on Sunday mornings, and able to handle the physical requirements of set-up/take-down. Prior experience with sound equipment set-up is not required, but the candidate must be willing to take instruction and learn. Know someone who might be interested? Please have them reach out to Pastor Daniel: dchilds@universityumc.church
