Here's what is on offer at the next evening of On Line Clinics

The May 12th Clinics at RMMBC 2022

The second evening of the RMMBC Online Prologue kicks off on May 12th at 7PM Pacific time with Register today for both the On Line Prologue and In Person Meets!  We will have two parallel clinic streams with some great offerings. These clinics will offer something of interest for everyone.  See the Clinic Schedule page on the RMMBC website for more details.

The first clinic on Clinic Stream 1 will be Matthieu Lachance presenting "A Pragmatic Approach at to British-American Oil Tank Car Fleet".  British-American Oil tank cars were probably the coolest private cars to ever grace Canadian rails, however no serious RTR models have ever been produced. Matthieu has built a prototypical fleet by crunching data, analyzing archive pictures and kitbashing models.

He will break down the B-A fleet using archival photos and discuss available models to represent the B-A fleet.  He will show how they can be modified to closer match the real cars.  This promises to be a fascinating subject by someone who has immersed themselves in the subject.  Don't miss this must see clinic.

First up on Clinic Stream 2 will have Rich Mahaney presenting his clinic "Peninsulas".  This clinic looks at the use of "peninsulas" to add space, operations and special industries to model railroad layouts. A peninsula added as an afterthought on a layout can bring new ideas for a special scene or industry. A look at the use of “peninsulas” to add to bench work to add operations, industries, yards and other items to expand a layout in a small or large space.".   This clinic will be an entertaining presentation on layout design.

Following the B-A tank car clinic on Stream 1 will be "Selective Compression on an Industrial Scale: Modelling Large Industries on Our Small Layouts" presented by Marc Simpson.  Modern and historic industries that are rail served are often massive facilities that generate significant amounts of freight traffic, something we want on our layouts. This clinic will discuss how to fit these industries on our often space challenged layouts using selective compression and other approaches.  Don't miss this presentation on designing our layout to fit industries that are major traffic sources.

Next up on Stream 2 is Rene' Gourley's "Reinventing wheels – A Pembroke Update".  What does it take to model a real location on an unusual prototype railroad as it appeared in 1905, in Proto:87? Pluck? Ignorance? Comfort with life alone?

Come find out as Rene' shares what he has developed and learned while modelling Pembroke, Ontario in the Canada Atlantic era. It has been eight years since the last update so don't miss this update about Pembroke!  Along with the Lazy Susan turntables, roundhouse doors, hand-cranked turntable and locomotive “kits” suggested in 2014, Rene' has also been reinventing turnout controls, shingles, siding, lettering and yes, wheels. Sometimes he is successful, and sometimes he learns something new, but it’s all progress. The layout itself has also moved along in this time, and he’ll share some of that progress too.  Finally we will have a virtual layout tour of the layout in its current form

We'll cover the later online clinics and more in person activities like Displays, "Meet the Modeller", meet ups and  layout tours in future newsletters. Register today; We'll see you at the Meet!
