Hi Friends,

The past few weeks have been very busy and productive. From special needs events to sharing the Word, the following are some of the highlights:

School is out for summer break in Florida. We will be sending out some summer tips soon. In the meantime, praying that everyone will have a safe and happy summer break!

The 24th Annual Family Cafe
Remote Work & Working with Brands Presentation

  • 20 years ago, in the same month of May, I was working as a public relations executive for federal contractors, the White House, and the federal government. The May 2012 image was taken at a tradeshow booth that I was responsible for at the Dept. of Transportation. Just one aspect of my job duties was recruiting, hiring, and helping people in the process to work directly for the US government. Among other things, I was a young Latina American woman with a Bachelor in Pre-Law traveling across the 50 states, Sr. level spokesperson for the government, and responsible for a huge budget.

  • Fast forward 20 years, May 2022 in Orlando at the Family Cafe. It's my own booth as Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell. With my spouse, boys, and a special needs son. Blessedly and humbly, the session I presented on remote work and working with brands to assist special needs families, deeply impacted attendees. Through hugs & tears, they shared their special needs parenting journies with me. The hardship, the loss, the loneliness, the joy, the true love, the fight, and the constant advocacy. I understood them because I am them. I am a special needs mom and a mom of neurotypical siblings. I have a medical disability.

  •  I was thanked many times for being a speaker, a bilingual presenter, and an exhibitor. I thank the amazing #FamilyCafe team and the Governor's Summit for Disabilities, for 24 years of unifying resources--self-advocates to federal agencies--that it's now become the largest cross-disability event in the nation! Be sure to visit https://familycafe.net for more information and stay tuned for the 25th Anniversary of Family Cafe in Orlando on June 9-11, 2023!

Parenting

Thank you to @hip_latina, a news and media company dedicated to highlighting the diversity of the U.S. Latina experience, for including me in their list of “Latina Moms Offering Advice and Guidance on Instagram”. The recommended list from HipLatina stated “9 Latinx moms who are dedicated to creating a community where women can communicate and support one another so that they don’t have to feel like they’re doing it all alone.” Always grateful and humbled to be recognized for special needs advocacy. Especially meaningful because disability resources (medical, educational, and therapeutic) within U.S. Latino communities are often lacking.

Women of Legacy and Purpose | Pastor, Dr. Joscelyn Ramos Campbell | Hope International Church

  • These have been very special and God-ordained days. I want to thank my beloved family for their support. My dear hubby Justin because when you see me everywhere, he is always holding things together in the background. My big brother Dr. and Pastor Aaron, who has always been a shepherd and counselor to his educational staff, but has also been a minister of the Word for over 20 years. My beautiful Titi Penny, my mother’s sister/almost twin, (with her daughter/my cousin Verna), flying from the Washington DC Metro to represent our family, including symbolically my late beloved parents.
  • I want to give my gratitude to my Sr. Pastors and spiritual parents, Dr. Tony and Jodie McCoy, for allowing me the privilege to bring the message on Sunday. During the month of May, a month set aside to honor women and mothers, it was indeed a blessing to bring forth a message “Women of Purpose and Lasting Legacy”. May God use it as encouragement for others and according to His will.
  • It was an honor to represent my Sr. Pastors, Hope International Church family, (and Hope Torchlighters Special Needs) by giving the invocation at the Lake County Board of County Commissioners Meeting in Tavares.
  • When God gives you a promise (like healing, a calling to teach, a new job, marriage restoration, etc.), the feelings of doubt, fear, or confusion can come to make you question God's promise to you. In Luke 1:37 it says, “For no word from God will ever fail.” Distractions and negative feelings only keep you from the destiny and purpose God has for you. If God has promised you something, you have to believe in what God has promised over your life. When we stay focused on God’s glory, no matter what your situation or life circumstances, we will be encouraged and be transformed by God’s truth and move forward in the abundant life God has for us!
