Summer Support Drive

We are all excited for school to get out for the summer, but what happens to those families that depend on our school’s breakfast and lunch programs for meals?  We can help our community with a Summer Support Drive that will help provide funds and food items during the summer. We are asking you to donate gift cards (which are preferred) and/or food items to be distributed to these families.  We will start the collection on Monday, May 9 – Tuesday, May 17.

Preferred: Gift cards of any amount (please indicate the amount on the card)

  • Jewel-Osco, Aldi, Walmart, Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s
  • The gift cards can be dropped off by parent or student in the CHMS Front Office

Alternative:

  • Breakfast bars, Pop Tarts, Cereal, Pretzels, Granola bars
  • Please drop all food items to a cooler/box on the porch at 210 Holmes Avenue, Clarendon Hills

Any questions or concerns can be directed to Priya Bhattacharyya at priyab22@gmail.com or CHMS Social Worker Jenny Steinhebel at jsteinhebel@d181.org

8th Grade Dinner Dance May 19th

Dear 8th Grade Students,

If you haven’t marked your calendars yet, please save the date of Thursday, May 19 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm! All 8th graders are invited to celebrate their middle school experience at this 8th Grade Dinner & Dance. This is a free event sponsored by the PTO.

Special thanks to our chairs and parents already signed up to make the event a night to remember. If you are a parent and would like to help, sign up HERE.

To see a list of the ingredients for the foods to be served, click HERE. Kindly note, that the dessert selection will be based on availability. One or more of the items listed will be selected as the dinner’s dessert.

THANK YOU for Supporting Pizza Wars

Thank you to everyone who came out for Pizza Wars last week! We had over 500 people in attendance and raised around $7,000, which will help to fund teacher educational needs as well as our PTO clubs and events for the upcoming year. It was great to see so many families back in the school, and hope you all had a great time. Special thanks to our event sponsors CHT Ortho, Club Pilates, Genius Tutors and County Line Properties, as well as all of our parent volunteers who helped to make this year’s Pizza Wars a huge success!

Staff Appreciation Week May 9th – 13th

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Since 1992, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month has been officially observed annually in May to celebrate the contributions that generations of these groups have made to American history, society, and culture. This month, we celebrate the contributions of Americans that descend from all of Asia and the Pacific Islands such as: Hawaii, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines and Samoa; as well as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan.

There is no single story of the AAPI experience, but rather a diversity of contributions that enrich America’s culture and society and strengthen the United States’ role as a global leader.

If you would like to help CHMS celebrate this special month, please see Mrs. Santini in Student Services.
