You are invited to the 'Flexible Homes to support ageing-in-place' exhibition Between 9th and 20th May 2022 in the foyer of the Catalyst
Following on from the contribution that Elders Council members made to the Flexible homes project, an exhibition is being held in the foyer of the National Innovation Centre for Ageing (The Catalyst, 3 Science Square, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 5TG).
The exhibition showcases the outcomes of the UKRI healthy ageing catalyst Flexible Homes project led by Professor Paul Jones (Professor of architecture and built environment, Northumbria University) and team, Glenda Cook, John Carr, Kay Rogage and Ana-Marie Salai, which was co-produced with the Elders Council, VOICE and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, Housing Division.
What was achieved would not have happened without the involvement of so many people and
we would encourage members to visit this exhibition, and there is no need to book in advance. When you have been, please take a moment to let us know what you thought about it.

Loneliness – never far from home
During lockdown, members of the Elders Council contributed to a video produced by the Young Women’s Film Academy about loneliness.
We had conversations with the young women about what loneliness meant to us and they have produced, and shared, this thoughtful video with us.

This will be a very informal, fun event, and we are not expecting participants to have extensive experience of creative writing or musical composition! Jude Murphy has worked with the Elders Council before, and we have heard very positive reviews. If you haven't been to Jesmond library recently, come back and sit round a table with old friends and some new faces! Transport and/or zoom are available on request.

Residents of Newcastle are being asked to complete this survey so that the PCC can determine what the next steps will be to reduce this type of crime.
You can view and respond to the survey below.
This survey, on behalf of the school and the British Film Institute (BFI), hopes to understand media consumption habits – specifically, film, television and video/online games – of adults 50 years and over, and who are residing in the UK.
This will be confidential, so if you are interested in completing the survey then click the link below.
The responses will better guide the final report, and shape recommendations to the BFI as to how it could better engage with this audience segment and involve them meaningfully in their future activities.
A BIG win in the Which? fight to protect cash!
As part of the Queen’s speech the government has pledged to introduce legislation this year that will finally protect our access to cash and face-to-face banking services.
They have been fighting on behalf of millions of people and communities that require protection from an avalanche of ATM and bank branch closures.
Which? thank you for helping to achieve this critical win.
More than 192,000 people signed the petition, 24,000 emailed your MP and over 6,000 letters were sent to local papers.
Your actions have made a difference, and together we have protected cash.
