Thanks to donations from our generous community
the LAPS Foundation provided significant support to the
school district during the 2021-2022 school year.
Classroom Materials
Teachers come up with many innovative ideas for learning. Among the many grants we funded this year, four classrooms at Chamisa received grants for giant legos for learning activities across many subjects, including math, language arts and social/emotional learning. These have been very popular with the students. A 4th grader commented, "We are an engineering team!"
Professional Development
During the pandemic we have been flexible in how we support professional development for educators.  Many conferences have been virtual and travel is limited.  Recently LAPS Foundation partnered with the school district to host two events focused on giving teachers the opportunity to collaborate and discuss issues with their colleagues.  In March, we hosted LETS Celebrate LETRS for elementary teachers completing required training in reading. In May, we hosted Pre-K is Our Focus for Pre-K staff in the expanding LAPS program.  Many thanks to Pig & Fig for the wonderful venue and food!
Wellness Grants
The Foundation now provides support for schools to focus on staff and student wellness, first initiated through a generous grant from Enterprise Bank.  This year we awarded wellness grants for innovative seating at Barranca, teacher morale at Aspen, welcoming new students at Los Alamos High School and wrist bands to revitalize the walk/run programs at all the elementary schools.  We love helping our schools stay healthy, both physically and mentally.
LAPS Foundation awarded 22 scholarships to graduating seniors in 2022.

❤️ Shower with Love ❤️
We encouraged our community to help us shower teachers with items they needed starting on Valentine's Day for an entire month.  Over 150 teachers participated with almost $20,000 in materials making it into their classrooms.
Thanks to a generous $35,000 grant from N3B,
Los Alamos Middle School has received a ton of materials for
STEM-related activities like robotics, engineering and
maker space during the last three school years. 
LAMS learning looks like fun!
