Navigating Difficult Times

I must admit, the past two weeks have been hard for me. Two mass shootings in a span of 10 days, one being the second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history, is a lot to process. In addition, many Americans have been faced with stock market uncertainty, record high inflation, and massive layoffs.

There’s no better time than now to prioritize self-care. This covers a wide spectrum that includes physical, physiological, emotional, and spiritual. Build your own safe spaces through friendships, relationships, professional communities, and possibly a therapist. Spend quality time with your family and loved ones.

This is also a good time to evaluate your finances. Having a financial safety net and a solid foundation can make things like inflation or a job loss a lot easier to navigate. It can also give you much needed funds for self-care and supporting those in need. Take some time to focus on building a savings cushion and pay down debt. Revisit life insurance and your estate plan to ensure that your loved ones are supported. If you’ve been putting these essential tasks off, I encourage you to address them.
