A Call to Prayer

Just two days ago we heard the news of yet another school shooting, one of several mass shootings that have taken place in our nation recently. I cannot even begin to wrap my head around the grief that these families are feeling as they prepare to say goodbye forever to their beautiful children and the wonderful teachers that did all they could to keep the kids safe.

I feel so helpless as I am sure many of you do as well. Some people in our world heard the news and just moved on with their lives. I guarantee you I have not. My heart is breaking for those in Uvalde, TX and for our nation during this time.

What do we do? How do we help?

The only answer I can provide is PRAY!!

I heard on the  Today Show this morning as they interviewed the parents of one precious little one that their daughter was to share this verse in church on Sunday,

Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so that it may go well with you, and you may go in and take over the good land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors.” Deuteronomy 6:18 NIV

This verse speaks our circumstances today, do what is right… I feel that right now what is right, what we can do as a community of faith in Carrollton, OH is pray.

Pray for the families, pray for the survivors, pray for the community, pray for the school administrators, pray for our nation, pray for our legislators, PRAY…

I do not know when Jesus will return, I do not know what tomorrow will bring but we are all created and loved by God so let us return to our creator with our prayers.

I am asking everyone to set aside the 8:30-9:30 hour for the next week to specifically pray for what I have mentioned above and whatever else God may lay upon our hearts as these families lay their loved ones to rest. Pray alone, pray with others but please pray that God will give them peace and surround them with comfort as they say goodbye.

I realize the pain does not end in one week, but we must pull together to help them at least take the next step.

If anyone needs to talk or process your feelings please reach out to your pastors or others in our church family.

Blessings

Pastor Kimberly
