MWiB Circuit Easter Offering Service
The above service is at Lidgett Methodist Church on Sunday 29th May at 3pm.
I do hope that you will try to attend, you don’t have to be a member of a women’s meeting or belong to a club, it includes all of us, “Methodist Women”! Men are very welcome too, we will find out about some of the people, families, our money has helped in different ways.
I look forward to seeing you there.  Alison White

Bible Month - June
This year Bible Month will be on the topic of Isaiah. We will be having services on it a bit late, 4 weeks starting on 19th June. If you want to download the 30 Day Isaiah Reading Plan, you can HERE.

Jubilee Afternoon Tea
At 2.30pm on Saturday 4th June we plan to have a bring and share afternoon tea in the community garden. We are inviting members of the church, the gardening volunteers and the artists. It will be free but we will ask those attending to sign up in advance so we know numbers expected and what people plan to bring. The sign up sheet is on the table near the entrance to the New Hall.

Road Closure - 5th June
The Bishy Rd street party will be on from 11am next Sunday. Thus the section of the road with the shops will be shut all day. If you travel that way to get to church, please note you will be diverted and may need to allow for extra travelling time.

Community Gardening
Our next community gardening session is Sunday 5th June 2-6pm. There will be gardening, a plant swap a craft workshop and garden games. All welcome to pop in for some of the time - just having people about to chat to others would be useful. See poster below.

Southlands Singing Group
Thank you to those who attended the first session of our new singing group recently. Our next session will be 9.30am Sunday 19th June. Please let Naomi know of any favourite songs/hymns a couple of weeks in advance and also, if you have one, bring a music copy of Singing the Faith with you.

Southlands Annual Church Meeting
Our Annual Church Meeting will be held after the service on Sunday 19th July. Please can all those who currently do a job in church that is voted for at the meeting, check that they still wish to continue the job. If not, we need to know, so we can invite others to volunteer for the job. If anyone would like to join the stewards, please reply to this email to be added to the list to be voted for at the meeting. We will be loosing 2 stewards this year.

Circuit Rep Needed
Our rep to the circuit council meetings is resigning at the ACM. Thus we need someone to stand for the post. It involves attending circuit council meetings and reporting back to the Southlands Church Council. There are about 4 meetings a year. Please let a steward know if you are willing to do this job.

More details nearer the date.

York Pride - Saturday 18th June
York Methodist Circuit, together with St Luke’s Anglican Church and St Columba’s URC are one of the sponsors of this year’s York Pride, under the name of “Christians at Pride in York”. We will be walking together in the Pride parade from the Minster to the Knavesmire and there will also be a stall all day at the Knavesmire. Anyone who would like to take part in this - either the parade or looking after the stall (or both!) - please contact Deacon Judith Stoddart (deaconjudithstoddart@gmail.com).

Dunnington Methodist Church Closing Service June 19th 2022
We would like to invite you to the above Service on this significant occasion. We begin at 2:0pm with some community singing of favourite hymns and then lead into the Service at 2:30 addressed by Rev Christopher Humble. Tea and refreshments will then be served in the Reading Room. We would appreciate it if you could let us know whether you can attend for seating and catering arrangements. As soon as possible would be helpful, but at least before June 5th. Replies to: Jocelyn Auton 01904 488044 or Pat Muir 01904 488919 or pmchronos@aol.com

Praying for our Circuit
The church on the Circuit Prayer Rota for 29th May is Huby.  Thank God and pray for the work of God in that place.

Many in our country are forced to use foodbanks and community food projects to be able to eat. Pray for all who use or volunteer at these projects, and for justice so all can eat.

If there is anything you would like included in these weekly emails, please send them to me by Friday lunchtime.

Regards, Naomi

Members of the Banham, Whittaker and Chester families from Southlands joined others from Acomb, Lidgett and Haxby & Wigginton churches for a friendly rounders afternoon last Saturday. It was lots of fun and Lily was kept busy as score keeper (that her parents were on the winning side both times is a coincidence!).
