[RECAP] Proud to be invited to talk gender and climate change with my Greek friends at Food for Thought on Sunday 22nd May regarding the agency of CALD women and how we can influence our communities to advocate for renewable energy and the health of the planet. Founder of Food For Thought (FFT), a Greek Australian Women’s Group, Varvara Athanasiou-Ioannou and FFT patron Professor Vasso Apostolopoulos and I have enjoyed sharing our ideas on a variety of issues. Nominations for the 2022 Brilliant Women in Digital Health Awards are open

THE AFMW is pleased to share the following information concerning the 2022 Brilliant Women in Digital Health Awards which seek to recognise 25 women from across Australia for their achievements in the health and aged care sectors. Nominations are now open to recognise women at all stages of their careers for their contributions in mentoring, medical research, technology development, improving health outcomes using digital health or introducing a new digital process. AFMW Bursary 2022 – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Purple Bush Leaves Medicine – Applications NOW OPEN

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: During Reconciliation Week, the Australian Federation of Medical Women, is making a tangible commitment to the support of continuing education of Aboriginal and Torres’s Strait Islander women in medicine with an inaugural bursary. As part of their commitment to reconciliation and the Makarrata Commission, we would like to encourage and empower a female medical graduate who identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, to further their medical career and/or leadership aspirations. [EVENT] 16 JUNE: As President of AFMW it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the next session in our new regular monthly sessions "Circle of Kindness: AFMW Fireside Chats". Our next 'chat' will be held Thursday 16 June, 2022 7-8PM AEST, hosted by Dr Katrina Harris. A Fireside Chat is a safe space filled with kindness and trust where you can meet other medical women and talk about the challenges you're facing. The Australian Federation of Medical Women is a not for profit, politically neutral, non sectarian, non government organisation that seeks to improve the health of all Australians, especially the health of women and children. Membership is open to registered female medical practitioners, non-registered female medical practitioners & medical students. New members welcome.

The Australian Federation of Medical Women acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land and sea in which we live and work, we recognise their continuing connection to land, sea and culture and pay our respects to Elders past, present and future.

Join with other medical women connecting locally and globally:
AFMW is a member of the Australian Women’s Coalition, and is affiliated with Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA). We have a network of affiliated Australian state and territory medical women's societies: ACT, NSW, QLD, VIC. Also connecting with: UN Commission on the Status of Women (NGO CSW) and UN Civil Society Unit.
