Boonton UMC

May 29, 2022
Seventh Sunday of Easter

Sunday worship at 11:15am -
In-Person and on YouTube
Boonton UMC: A fun, musical, relevant, relational, and compassionate church
where people find hope, healing, and wholeness.
As our bishop stated in a message yesterday regarding the mass shootings in Buffalo, NY and Uvalde, TX, "There are no words."

And, as people who struggle to find words, we create communal spaces where the inexpressible can find room to breathe, process, and grieve.

That being said, all those in our churches and all those throughout Morris County are invited to join countless others at Denville's Town Hall (1 St. Mary's Pl, Denville, NJ 07834) at 6pm TONIGHT (Friday, May 27th) for "An Interfaith Acknowledgement of Grief about Gun Violence."

Come, Holy Spirit, come. Guide us, O Advocate, and help us to know how best to be advocates for peace and justice who effect change where it's most needed. Give us wisdom and courage to move forward from here, mindful of the ways these incidents have shaken communities across our nation, including our own.

Concluding Our

Sermon Series
This Sunday, we are finishing our sermon series on Ecclesiastes, and, thus, ending our quest toward meaning together. What will we have discovered at the end of our journey? What will be our conclusions, and how different or similar will they be from the Teacher imparting wisdom?

Join us for a meaningful worship service as we not only conclude our sermon series, but as we let peace with justice be at the center of our hearts and at the forefront of our minds as we come together to worship God.

Whether in-person or on YouTube,
we look forward to seeing you at 11:15am Sunday!

COMING IN TWO WEEKS!:

Church Vision Meeting

All congregants are invited to join us in the church fellowship hall from 9am to 12 noon on Saturday, June 11th for an important gathering where we will dream and vision together, set goals and establish objectives together, as we emerge from the pandemic and into the new landscape of ministry that surrounds us.

Relay for Life

Thank you to all those who came to walk or run with Pastor Donald on May 16th for our all-day fundraiser run. Your crazy clergy ran 80 miles total in 18 1/2 hours and, collectively, we went 140 miles altogether with those who came out to walk or run! As a whole, our team has raised $2500, and more donations are still coming in!

We hope you'll join us for our community Relay For Life event on Saturday, June 11th from 5 to 11pm at the Montville Township High School track and be a part of our church's Relay For Life team. It’s not too late to join if you haven’t yet!

The theme this year is crazy hats, and we invite you to join us this month and next as we put a cap on cancer together!

Also, are you a cancer survivor? Or are you someone who has lost a family member or close friend to cancer? If so, we invite you to be a part of a special ceremony happening later in the evening at the Relay for Life event on June 11th. We will honor all those who are cancer survivors and those who have died from cancer, and we invite you to consider purchasing a luminary bag in honor of someone at
www.relayforlife.org/greatermontvillenj.
Calling All Baseball Related Items

This summer, we are taking you out to the ball game each Sunday. And we might even buy you some peanuts and Cracker Jacks (for those not allergic to them)! After delving into Ecclesiastes, we'll be delving into a summer sermon series on the minor prophets, and each of our prophets will play a specific role on the baseball field. Who's on first and where will the rest be? Who knows. But if you have bats, batting gloves, helmets, jerseys and hats (of any team), baseballs or anything related to the sport, we invite you to bring them. We will collect these items and then use them to decorate the sanctuary with when we start the series. Thank you in advance for your help!
Special Giving Opportunity

Thank you to all those who donated to support our Camp Scholarship Fund last week! You can still donate this week if you haven't already.

And this Sunday, in response to the bishop's invitation to all churches made at our Annual Conference, we are taking up another special offering for Ida Hurricane Relief, as A Future with Hope continues to work to alleviate the suffering and rebuild in all the ways that are needed following a hurricane that left even more of a negative impact on communities than Hurricane Sandy.

Hungry to Whole

Inspired by “The Daniel Plan” book and John Wesley’s Holy Clubs, Hungry to Whole is grounded in Psalm 107:9 – “God satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things” (NIV). Our prayer is that those who come hungry each week would leave whole in more than one way.

Join us for our next Dinner Gathering (potluck style)
Wednesday, June 1st, 6:30-8pm at MUMC

Bring a dish to share and invite a friend, neighbor, or co-worker! Dr. Frank and John Michaud from New Pathway will be our guest speakers and will be sharing with us about Bioregulation Therapy (BRT), one of the newest innovations in the therapy world, which, in a sense, helps to minister to and bring healing to our bodies at a cellular level, using the body's own electrical and magnetic field signals to help calm and stabilize the nervous system, balance and energize the body, and restore natural wellbeing.

We will also meet Wed., June 15th and Wed., June 29th.
